Excerpt from KQ : "

Attendance- 33,857. That's the announced attendance number from Senior Day on Saturday at GT. For a team with bowl aspirations coming into the day, that's an abysmal number.

It was the best turnout of the Brent Key era. It is also less than the announced number of the Western Carolina game.

There were entire sections of the stadium on Saturday that appeared empty. The fans in attendance were (very) loud at times, but for Georgia Tech to get to where everyone in Atlanta wants them to be, there's got to be some improvement there.

Recruiting is the lifeblood of any successful program, and for recruiting to elevate, the atmosphere (among other things) needs to elevate.

The product on the field needs elevated, too."

Exactly! Big cry. Well said. That’s extremely sad.

Show me a top 20 program with an attendance like that. What are your aspirations for Georgia Tech football? Why would any good high school football player wanna come play in front of that?

I think our attendance issues in large part stem from a bad product + the idea that the school/AA doesn’t care about making it better. There are plenty of bad programs that have good support. And there have been really good programs (Miami at times) with worse attendance than ours. With us, it just feels like the admin is such a poor steward of the program that it feels hopeless at times. Like even if we dumped all the money in the world into fixing the problem, there’s always some ass like Stansbury or Peterson to screw it up anyways.

Cabrera has given a good bit of attention to changing that perception and I hope he’s not just going through the motions. There needs to be a wholesale change in how the school treats the AA and athletic programs for our football team to survive.

Then get your ass to the stadium, asshole.

I’ve been to every home game this year, so I’m not trying to hear Quinlain or anybody's öööö about fan attendance. The product is abysmal.

There are individual players that make nice plays, some consistently so. Looking at you McCollum, Thomas, Eley, Brooks, and maybe a few others… but too many positions get pushed around. The OL sucks terribly. TE is devoid of talent. RB and WR are mediocre. I like the new QB, but he had no help. Defense has had a good year for the most part.

All that said, if you build it they will come. Don’t call out fans for poor recruiting/atmosphere. Tech football has been in a slow death spiral for a decade that had accelerated the past 4 years. Fans need something to fan about.

This brings to mind an earlier thread (either this week or last week?) in which it was mentioned on the day of the famous flyover that CPJ’s team was playing WAKE FOREST with 51K in attendance. My point is not to turn this into another PJ thread, but to show that if the product is good the people will come.

Yet here you are doing just that.
