I took some great photos today

Losing is certainly part of it. But the other day I came across the end of the 2015 GT-FSU game. I believe Tech was 2-5 coming into that game. BDS was full and go re-watch the end of that game, crowd was electric. Even if you want to argue "well that was a sellout because of FSU" go look at the prior game against Pitt there were 46k there and that's not because of Pitt.

It's not just losing, it's funny considering who it came from, but the problem is the culture. The last guy created such a disconnect from the fans to the program that there is just really no interest in watching a program lose. 1 year isn't going to get things back, but with the right coach who can connect with the GT fan base, I think Tech will be just fine.

It is just losing. The reason people came out to see a 2-5 Tech team in 2015 is because we finished #7 in the nation the previous year, which meant fan engagement was really high. It takes more than a few losses to completely destroy that.

Had Paul Johnson gone 3-9 three seasons in a row, no one would be showing up to see his 2-5 team play FSU the fourth season.

Conversely, if CGC had finished #7 in the nation last year attendance would be much stronger this year, regardless of all the stupid "juice" stuff.

Yeah this. We seem to forget that we used to win more than 3 games a year. Everybody I talk to who's a Tech fan has been saying "I've never been so disinterested about Tech football." This is even from some from my tailgate group that goes to every game. People are tired of watching öööö football and loss after loss. Even the ones who go are there but are not really there. There's no blaming the fanbase here. I've read the posts in this thread and elsewhere saying our fanbase sucks because they didn't show up for this game. That's not how sports work. You don't yell at the fans for not showing up when your team is ööööting the best constantly or hot one weekend and cold the next right after being öööö constantly. There will be some forever loyal fans but majority of people don't like ruining their Saturdays on a consistent basis unlike us masochists.

This is right. It did not get this way overnight. There was good attendance through some crappy football. It will not come back immediately either. But winning consistently will do the trick and the fans will come back. We also can't reach new fans without winning. Winning is the key.

Losing doesn't help but I don't blame anyone who checked out when Stansbury and Collins were insulting the fans intelligence and getting into slappy fights with reporters who were asking questions that deserved answers and everybody was asking everywhere anyway. Yeah we're dumb, and that's why we are fans and not coaches, but when you throw up walls to any fan participation or ownership that childishly you are gonna check people out fast.

Winning will be necessary but a coach that acts like they actually want fan buy in is going to go a long way too.
