And there was 70,000+ fans in the stadium and it seemed 50,000 of them were Tech fans. Winning will put fannies in the seats. I wonder what our avg attendance was in 1999 and 2000. I think if we could start winning consistently instead of in spurts we could avg 50 - 55k. I wonder if we’ll ever get an administration that wants excellence on the athletic field.

Drove down to Jax NYE and slept in the parking lot. Good times. Pretty much until stadium expansion was complete in 2002 the stadium was packed out, but it was only 41-42k capacity (even though officially we listed it as 46k). Pretty much hovered around 50K average through the 2000s. Just win.

Was there. Had a great time. ND fans near me before the game were mouthing off about how we hadn't played anyone and they were gonna roll us

ND band continued playing their fight song after the game was over. Even played it over the Bowl Chairman while he was presenting Tech with the bowl trophy after the game. I’ve hated ND ever since.

1999 stats are not available for some reason but we averaged 41,890 fans per game in 2000. It was 40,800 in 1998.

We weren’t exactly knocking it out the the park.

I looked back at 1970, one of my favorite seasons, and we had 7 home games. Five of the home games we had 50,000+ : South Carolina, FSU, Clemson, Tennessee, & Navy. We had 59,000 against Tennessee. We drew 44,000 against Miami and for some reason only 32,000 against Tulane even though the next year when we played in New Orleans the attendance was 50,000. We were coming off three straight 4-6 seasons and still put 50k in the stadium most of the time. So this tells me the committed fan base has shrunk.

I was there as well. Great day. The beer vendor in the causeway outside our section left at halftime and it was self-serve draft until the kegs ran out.

I was there with ND fan telling me to sit down as we sacked their QB again.

I was there for that one. Winning may not cure all the underlying problems, but it sure cures a.lot of overlying ones.

I was in the same section! The one and only time I have had free beer at a ball game. What a great game and great trip. Tech Football was great then. I miss those days.
