If it ain't broke....

Don't shoot the messenger

Don't mean to be flaming you, but you have stated before, you weren't impressed with Tenuta, or something to the effect, you didn't like his brash personality?

If he is not a happy camper right now, why would that be, when he is for the 1st time in his career in charge, at least for the bowl game?

I think it was Drad that was quoted as saying, he might stay on as DC if not the head coach?

you guys can fill in the blank to that line, but my point is our defense is good. Its been really good the past 5 or 6 years. Why fix it?

You talking about that not-broke defense that allowed 31, 28, 28, 27, and 24 points in our 5 losses this year?

That's with an All-ACC player at all 3 levels (not counting future 1st day draft pick #93) and at punter?

Just checking.

D-Rad hiring an offensive-minded head coach like Hatcher/Johnson/Fisher is the only way I see Tenuta staying.

Realistically Tenuta probably gets a lucrative offer from another school as a DC. There will be a few big ones coming after him.

I would not rule out him staying, if he gets a fair shake on the HC situation, then likes the hire it could happen. He is all about control though, he wants control of the defense completely, the new coach would have to be fine with that, if not Jon walks.

A good offense would help TENUTA's Defense be even better

Wouldn't it be nice to find out what Tenuta's D accomplishes when coupled with an aggressive, productive offense? Only one opponent broke the 30 mark! The D left out there to wither most days and you expect anything more? I think we would be dazzled even more by Tenuta's D with an offense that is productive.

This is every Tech fans' dream that's why I would like to see DRad make a maximun effort keep Tenuta so we only have to work on improving the other half of the equation, the offense.

The TEAM gave up those points. Not just the defense.

I think three things need to happen for Jon to stay.

1. He gets a legit interview and not just a courtesy one.
2. Assuming he does not get the HC job, the new HC will have to basically re-hand over the keys to the defense thereby removing any possibility that Jon will not be in complete command of the D. The new HC may not want Tenuta at all or may not agree to leave Jon alone to run the D by himself.
3. Rad can't/won't match the offers that are probably already pouring in.

What kind of firey, aggressive HC would want to take a job where he is not allowed to have a hand in every phase of HIS team..Sorry guys but this aint happening....If it does, I'm not sure we will have hired the right guy. I like JT as much as anybody, and love his style, but if he's not the HC he's probably gone!

I thought JT was already the highest paid (or one of the highest paid) coordinators in the country...
