If it doesn’t impact winning he doesn’t care

Not a troll….. but saying do whatever as long as it doesn’t impact winning isn’t the way
I look at as being implied that "whatever it takes" does not include off field lawbreaking or NCAA rule breaking or academic cheating.

It seems like a rah rah thing - work hard, suck it up when you are tired/sore, stay enthusiastic even if someone else gets some of your snaps, etc.

I’m happy that Key dresses like he’s about to coach his son’s little league team on Saturday. Nobody’s more dedicated than those guys.
Does he tell them the story about how the scouts were all over him until he hurt his arm in the bottom of the 9th with the state championship on the line, refused to be pulled, made the big strikeout, scored later with the hottest chick in the school, but his arm was ruined? You know, a little league coach story. The f'ing Royals were gonna draft him for sure at #3 to be the big closer.

I think there are certainly times where the guys should dress up and represent. Media days, some pre-bowl game events etc. And I don’t know the rules but I think GT can foot the bill to acquire decent formal wear for them. Getting them acquainted with formal wear etc is important later in life with job interviews etc.

But I think track suits are perfectly fine and probably best for travel to away games. Less likely to have shot stolen from visitor locker rooms too.

If that’s really Key’s take I think it’s a bit of a red flag. Im not gonna take that quote to seriously tho. No suits doesn’t mean no discipline or accountability.

Key is on point here and if you miss the suits, the America's Mart has fashion shows less than a mile away several times a year.

I always personally thought the whole 'athletes wearing suits before a game' thing was on the corny end of the spectrum, but I can see why it's a thing. This is the definition of a non-story tho

FYI, Key didn't necessarily say any of these things. This is one players take on some things Brent has said. I'm not saying he's lying about the suits (clearly not) but "do whatever if it doesn't impact winning" is a lot of extrapolation based off this comment.

Not to mention that almost anything could "impact winning." Poor discipline, being late, being out partying, bad diet, not studying, etc. They all impact winning.

What we wear before games and on the flight to a different city is a clear example of something that doesn't.

This.

It’s not a fashion show. It’s a freakin’ football game.

Clearly Pee Wee. His clothes actually fit. And wearing shoes without socks is literally disgusting.

I haven't been to Paris fashion week in about 45 years but when did people quit wearing socks with suits. Edit: dumbest öööö ever.

The bigger point is that we had a coach who was obsessed with distracting stuff like the blue carpet fashion walk and Key clearly isn’t having that. It’s not that players aren’t now expected to dress appropriately for pregame, it’s that we aren’t making their choice of fashion some weird focus (like is the new thing for NFL and NBA players).
