If we had any offense since 2008

We'd probably be undefeated right now. Everyone had high hopes for this year. öööö, this is just embarrassing. I'm still on the hype train but it's just stopped at the terminal and is serving drinks non-stop til next year.

I have a hard time believing this is on our players. I don't know that pj has ever had an offense this bad.

Th thread title doesn't make since but our issues are more than just young.

2008 O > the current bunch

PJ needs to coach to the talent that he has rather than the talent he wants/needs.

Instead, he keeps trying to play chess rather than checkers. It's an asinine way to coach.

If you put the offense from 2008, 2009, 2010, etc, into this year with this defense, we go undefeated. It's a öööö shame.

Pj always blames his defense. He can't do that now. He needs to look at himself

Undefeated is silly considering playing Clemson and ND. Put 2014's offense out there against Clemson and it's a close game.

The O that played against ND this year would probably be 6-2.

If Butker had missed that kick, would Johnson be gone now?

Edit: I guess we still would've won the Orange Bowl...

Bullshit. when has he done that? Care to provide a link.

I always hear him take the blame for a loss. The team may stink right now, but you and the rest of the fellowship of the miserable don't need to make öööö up to feel better.

Nope. But sadly, you're still with us.

For the record, I support Paul Johnson. I just think people would be calling for his head by now

Sure. Last year definitely bought him the cover to weather the shitshow that has been this season.

While I can understand some of the dropoff given last seasons' crazy offensive effciency, I expected a lot better from the o-line. They are a dumpster fire. I would be favor in seeing Sewak move on.

I found the offensive game plan today a little bizarre after the FSU game. In the FSU game, they manufactured quite a few first downs and had a fair amount of possession by leaning on a lot of rocket tosses in the first half to loosen up the inside and then more B-back dives in the second half rather than pure 3O all game. It didn't seem like the toss play was in the game plan much today, nor was the B-back dive after Marshall coughed it up in the First Quarter.

I guess I expected today's game plan to build off what went well in the FSU game and sprinkle in some more of the other wrinkles in the offense with a view toward building up week by week to COFH. If you've got a young group of guys who are still wet behind the ears, that seems to me a sounder approach than going a completely different direction in play calling week to week.

It was just tough watching this team spend the whole day fail miserably to execute something they're clearly not good. And then, getting themselves into obvious passing downs where Justin Thomas was simply getting his ass kicked every play. They had such a good game plan and did such a good job of not getting into those situations against FSU, I don't understand why the coaches thought that wouldn't have worked against UVA.

I dont think CPJ goes into games with a game plan. He just tries to out-stubborn the other team into submission.

There are a couple of people on here who keep saying he blames the defense and they're morons or liars or both. Just ignore it.

Given the teams we have lost to - what freaking D are you looking at?

Our defense this year is better than last year. The problem is that our competition is, too. Roof has obvious problems - like 3rd and long - but he is actually building a serviceable 2-deep. It is hard to put too much blame on him given what he has had to work with on offense.

I guess I should've been more precise. Year after year, he blamed the defense. For reference, see DC firings and rehirings. He hasn't placed himself under the same scrutiny.

Are you guys forgetting the injury aspect? I've never seen a team so decimated by them. Beginning with CJ Leggett in the Spring. I'm amazed that JT hasn't gone down. And we're not like Alabama or Ohio State that can just throw another 5 star player out there.

Yes, I believe they are forgetting. It does sound like excuses; but the facts are when over half your original starters are out for injuries and your having to play freshmen with little experience at key positions to option offense, the odds are are highly against consistent performance.
