I'm hoping next week we don't....

start with a TD on the first play from scrimmage. I'll always take the points, but it's hard to maintain focus when the points come so easily.

The team was intensely focused the first half, but towards half time, the intensity slacked off slightly...but that was all it took and CU was right back in it.

Still, the guys executed when it was crunch time and that's a good sign.

We didn't start with one yesterday either. It was an INT :p. But I get what you're saying...puts a lot of pressure on the D too.

Actually, our first play from scrimmage was an INT. Our second play was the TD run. Sorry to nitpick, but I think you have a point. These explosion plays where we strike quickly seem to deflate the offense: it happened against JSU, and then it happened again last night.

Yeah. Nesbitt should take a knee on the first play next time. LOL. Didn't we just take what the defense gave us?

Like I said, I'll always take the points. I just hope they don't come as easily so early.

Never implied we shouldn't try to score.

I hope Nesbitt goes 80 yards on a QB keeper for a TD.

I wouldn't turn it down.

But all in all, I'd prefer a 12 play scoring drive consuming 5 minutes with a 4th and 1 conversion or two.

I find it funny that some are talking about preferring long scores over quick scores. Shows how far this program has come in recent years.

Especially at an away night game. A long drive really takes the crowd out of it a lot better than a quick strike.

Hah, good point.

I do agree that the quick scores so early seem to have negative consequences. It seems to weaken the offenses resolve and it gasses the defense early. I know we eventually won the TOP but that first quarter was horrible from that standpoint. In my experience when you got to put in a lot of work early when there's so much more to go you tend to kill yourself physically and taking short rests just can't get you back up to full steam.

I'm hoping that after lifting of the gas against a team that can (AND DID) come back and make us regret it, we learn not to do that again. We'll find out.

lets just have our defense be our offense in that case

Just messin. My point is how can you not if that is what is givin up by the D? There is no way to predict a long drive. I agree it does more for the O's "swagger", but how can you intentionally create a drive like that when the big play is there.

That was a normal pitch to the outside Aback. Not like we were calling a fake punt/FG. That was 3 plays later.:laugher:

If anyone on our team still believes points come easily after last night, that person should be evaluated for serious brain damage.

If I recall correctly, they played a lot of games last year where they started out slowly. This year is opposite so far. Hopefully, they'll put together four good quarters against Miami. They will need to!
