I'm sorry...so sorry....puppie pile going to cost em? (in the pocketbook?)

I would agree that emotion can dramatically heighten one's awareness and strength for a limited period. It can also heighten the law of unintended consequences. Uncontrolled anger, for instance, can bring about erratic and damaging behavior. I would think that what most coaches would prefer to see is "prolonged intensity."

I believe this uncontrolled anger is part of what drove RB at times when we played certain games, especially UGAg. Not ragging on the kid, because he certainly played his heart out and won us some games. However, teams knew by the end that if they got in his head by messing with him that his performance usually went downhill.

Good point and great example of uncontrolled emotion.

"We wouldn't do anything like that. I don't think we would have a public display just to fire up our team. You just have to look at the situation with your team. It's my job to motivate the football team. That is what I need to do. But I need to do it in the proper fashion.
"I wouldn't run my team on the field. No. I'm kind of a firm believer in a system and a routine. I guess I picked that up at Oklahoma when I worked for Bob Stoops. Everybody has all these traditions and things they like to do. At Oklahoma our tradition was to get dressed in the locker room, win the game, shower and go home."
LOL...This came up in the AJC... the other coaches that commented backed UGA... But I like this coach...Sounds to me like he wants to coach men, not boys who need to get hyped for a huge game by acting like they just won the pop warner title.

Where's the part in Mangino's quote about competing with Kobiyashi in a hotdog eating contest?

Also interesting in that our HC seems to be attempting to use the same style, but catches hell around here for insufficiently motivating our players. I guess it's easier to stand by this credo when you win at a higher rate. Otherwise, your fanbase sees it as a deficiency in your coaching style.

Good point. Why I think it was a good move for Richt is because he normally fits this same mold. But he realized it wasn't working against UF so he went out of character for one game to attempt to change the negative momentum.

Now, if he makes a habit of it and the behavior continues then I'll take an issue with it...

Fwiw, if I were Richt, I'd do it every UGA-Florida game. College tradition etc.

I don't have a problem with it because it was dumb, and if they'd lost it would have blown up in his face.

I'll post an example...Big difference from having the same style and having the same fire... I see a deficiency for losing to UGA every year, not being sold on this program (wanting to bolt to every job interview) and plain out just bad errors that cost us games. I like CCG choices a lot of times however I want an exciting coach that wants to make Tech an elite program. He's not that guy

There are alot of things to hold over Chan's head, but this is one I really have a problem with. He wasn't bailing on the program IMO. He tried to help DRad out of the difficult situation of listening to the whiny bastard fans that call for his head every year by giving him the out of not having to be forced into negotiating a buyout that the AA couldn't afford, while an apparent DRad guy (Jimbo) was available.

:roflmao:Wow...Every year huh? I was with him every year till this one for the record... I can't do it any more and if you don't know why and you watch the games I couldn't explain it to you. And, yeah I'm sure he just wanted to help out good ol' drad when he was out interviewing. :laugher: Good ol' Saint Gailey. C'mon he smelled more money! Once again, we need an agrressive, elite coach to make Tech the elite program it should be. I will still call for his job unless we win out including bowl and UGA wins and for the first time in CCG tenure finished ranked. Which by the way I hope we do.

Yes, every year. It's not my fault you were slow in jumping on the turnip wagon. I watch the games. I don't like his style either. I understand why you are complaining and I see those issues being addressed. I have also spoken with him and his boss. They both have character and a real interest in doing what is best for our program. Giving DRad and the football program a fresh start without causing undue hardship to the AA was a motivation (not the only one). Sure, the guy was looking for more money. Why the hell shouldn't he? You would too.
