Injuries?

I think he cussed out keys mom or something. I still think he is the most talented running back we have but he isn't seeing the field. Key said he was ready but zero carries last two games. Only noticed him on the field for two plays against BG but he did have a reception for 15 or so. Seems like he didn't play much once key took over last year so I'm wondering if he pissed key off or if that is when he got hurt. Either way I think we need him on the field. Haynes has been good, Cooley seems to be playing timid or maybe also hurt but I think Smith is better than both if healthy.

We need all three going forward so we can open up the playbook. It's going to be hard to win if we can't establish some sort of run game
I’m sure there was no personal problem with Key last year or he would have transferred for his final year.

I imagine that the injury lead to less practice time in the new offense. The lack of practice time has lead to a lack of playing time.

if Smith is indeed back, I would expect both practice and playing time to increase.

After Louisville, I was convinced he'd been passed by the other two because he was dancing too much rather than getting north-south. Now I'm not sure what the coaches are telling the RBs because they're all timid for long stretches even when the OL is doing a serviceable job at getting push. Maybe the line is getting beat to the lanes so the gaps we see aren't the ones the backs are looking for. Maybe we're calling zone plays when that's not our backs' strength. Maybe we've got egregious tells. I don't think it's physical limitations because we will have long stretches where we execute IF AND ONLY IF we have success early in a drive and go fast not giving the other team time to adjust. Buster has got to be better at making that success consistent and we need to be better about keeping that momentum through to the end zone rather than playing groundhog and slowing down once we get to the red zone. We don't seem to win that adjustment battle once we give the other team time to counter what we're doing.
