Is 2014 the best we can do?

FTRS needs to do what they do best- fawn over Sportsbroad and her faux outrage about clear bags.

It is possible but unlikely.

If we throw what we have today in the trash and try to outcompete factory schools for pro-style recruits, then we will probably never finish in the top 25 again unless we take the institute private, expand major offerings, and add "safe spaces" for athletes.

I mean, 2014 was a fantastic year. We finished #7 in the nation.

Can we do better? Sure, we can do six spots better.

Is it likely? No. Pretty hard to finish higher than number 7 in the nation, and that's not a Tech-specific thing.
Yes, 2014 was a fantastic year, not necessarily the ceiling, but very close to it. We won some close games, gloriously. We played a very good FSU team right down to the wire, and we caught Miss State in a funk without a DC. I'm with you, a similar 11-3 season would be great, but not necessarily put us higher than #7 in the nation.

I could handle several 2014’s in a row before I started calling for the head coach to be fired.

Record vs SEC notables during that time period;
Vs UGA: 5-0
Vs LSU: 4-0
Vs Fla: 4-1-1
Vs Aub: 5-1
vs Bama: 5-1
vs Tenn: 1-1-1 in case your interested(only played them in '54, '55, and '56)

Strangely written article. There's always hope, but look: Tech beat Clemson, Georgia, Miami and Virginia Tech that year and still didn't get all the way to the pinnacle. There are going to be seasons in the immediate future where they will likely lose all 4 of those games. Better can be achieved, but most likely not right now. Not until the program gets back on the somewhat level footing that those stepping-stone ADs pissed away over the last decade and a half. Right now, it's hard to talk about competing with Clemson and Georgia consistently over any X year period when the football program is financially trailing the Dukes and Virginias of the world.
“They”?
