Is CU really the best defensive team we face this year?

If so, we may have a better chance of winning the rest this year. I hear it sometimes from you guys, but I'm really not sure.

I think they are definitely the best defensive line we face all year, probably in the top 2 or 3 secondaries...so yes, I think that may be the best defense we'll face all year.

Plus, the other team with a defense that good - VT - doesn't have a Jacoby Ford or CJ Spiller.

What is UNC bringing back on defense? Their D line manhandled us last year.

UNC is close defensively, but weaker offensively from what has been shown so far.
The main difference is in the raw athletic ability.

From what I've heard, UNC has the best front 7, but Clemson was a close second. I guess we'll find out in two weeks.

UNC is much better than Clemson defensively. They get all their front 7 back, probably 4 of which will start in the NFL. And they're in OUR DIVISION.

Grr.

Looking at the past few years on Scout, Clemson had a 5* and at least 3 4*'s on their DL. We seemed to do ok against their LB's and DB's, but DT's were extremely good against the dive and the DE's did a great job against both the QB run and the pitch.

I think we'll do much better against other teams once we have a bit of breathing room. All teams will probably have a worse DL, even Miami and FSU.

CU's d-line is the best on our schedule. Both DE's will be playing on Sunday's soon.

Miami's is fast, but pretty undiscplined. Their back 7 is not that great.

UNC has a really good front 7, but their secondary is just ok. Thankfully, UNC doesn't have anywhere near the playmakers that CU has on offense.

VT's unit is very solid overall.

Putting up 400+ yards against CU was an accomplishment--even if we looked ugly doing it in the 2nd half.

UNC has the best DL we will face...three DT's that will be in the NFL...and 2 DE's that will be at the next level...all returning starters.

Marvin Austin
Tydreke Powell
Cam Thomas
EJ Wilson
Robert Quinn

I think that we are splitting hairs here--CU's DE's plus the DT (name escapes me right now) will be playing on Sunday's as well. The Bower kid was a 5-star top DE out of HS; he's fantastic.

I don't doubt that UNC's front 7 is a bit better than CU's, but I think the d-lines are even.

Good news is that UNC doesn't have playmakers like Spiller and Ford. Our offense may get stymied a bit in that one, but I expect our D to play well against their O.
