Is Dwyer a bit chunky?

I read about him being slightly overweight in the spring. However, I figured it was rectified. He just seemed especially thick last night. My wife commented that he had a "Kardashian-booty". He is obviously a thrilling back. However, he is also under-performing. Thoughts?

He's not underperforming. He is 2nd I believe in the conference in rushing. This is also w/our opponents keying on him. He ain't superman and can plow through three defenders w/o anyone blocking.

If I am a D-coordinator, I do what I can to slow him down and force someone else to beat the D. Thankfully, for GT, we have a handful of someone elses that can make plays on offense.

I made comment in another post that Dwyer is not getting the stats to support jumping early to the NFL. I don't think he is. I do think he is every bit the runner he was last year and the D's are keying on him. Dwyer is a chunk; but that fat boy can flat out run with the football.

I actually remember seeing a **** of him bending over last night, and his gut was coming out a bit. It doesn't matter to me if he's just as fast as last year, which he actually says he is faster. I'd prefer him to have less of the fat, but oh well.

While I agree his performance hasn't helped his NFL draft status, the scouts are still going to realize his ability. He probably has dropped some, but I think he would still be a first round pick.

He's a fat tub of goo that can fly.

Can anybody good at photoshop do something with this?

I don't think he's as chunky as his weight indicates (plus he is down from the roster weight I believe). Dude is built like a mack truck in midsection including thighs/ass. I bet his body fat is lower than people think.

They don't draft stats. His size and speed will have him taken in the first 2 rounds. Don't fool yourself, he is long gone.

I mostly agree. A player that gets his stats reduced because the opponent formulated his game plan on stopping said player, that player obviously has some sort of skills to demand such attention. Plus there are combines and pro days and senior bowls(is it seniors only or draft players?) to consider.

Just you wait...JD's gonna rup off a 230-yd game and carry the team on his shoulders in the next few weeks.

He's about the same size as last year.

I was watching some vids of last year and he sure looks a lot heavier now compaired to 08, and doesn't seem to have that extra gear when he gets in space and runs kind of uncertain at times..He's still one helluva back and glad he is on our team

Agreed. Let's hope it is two weeks in a row starting this weekend.

I actually don't mind his performance thus far; given our record. I feel it is a slow build. Ideally, he peaks the last game of the regular season.

He is a bit more jiggly this year, though.

If you're bad enough to have to play in a senior bowl then you're not leaving early. Those games are showcases for guys trying to boost from undrafted to drafted or day 2 to day 1, not first or second round picks.

I'm sorry but he looks heavier and slower this year. Now he's still good but after nearly ever run of more than 5 yards, he has to come out for a breather. I would estimate his weight to be in the low 240s. Last year he appeared to gain weight during the season and was 15 lbs bigger against UGA than he was probably against BC. I'm just worried what he'll look like in late November if he keeps this up.

I think Dwyer lacks the extra gear he had last year.

Based on what? He has only had a couple of plays where he has gotten past the LBs. Against UNC he got caught by someone with an angle, but that same D caught him last year as well.

I half agree and half disagree. If you don't think that your performance stats count as well as your physical stats your mistaken. I remember one of our DL dropping in the draft last year just based on accusations about his performance, and Moreno went high despite his 40 time, etc. It would be hard to draft him in the first round right now when his performance stats don't show him even among the top 25 backs in the country.
