does NO ONE seem interested in talking football here at the moment??! I go to the Hive everyday and there's at least a couple of threads about GT football. Not earth-shattering news or anything mind you, just discussion.

THIS is the kind of stuff that keeps us all going until football season, and that's OVER four months away! Can't we pick up the football talk if for no other reason to warm us up for the change that's about to hit the Hive.

Stingtalk MAY have to be the new place to go to talk GT sports. I check it several times a day as is, and would love to actually FIND stuff here worth a post or two.

GOOO JACKETS!! STING EM!!

The Hive has about 8000 accounts as opposed to about 300 for Stingtalk. I also visit the Hive, but there are very few posts on the Hive worth reading or responding to at this time. I think many are grasping at straws over there to keep the posts alive.

We probably have about the same percentage of postings on Stingtalk at this time, but most posters are geared for football and basketball. Many may be like me, a married man with a wife that is completely fed up with sports and insists I should do some of my chores around the house.

She is in the Spring gardening mood and guess who has to get involved. Also, many of my chores have stacked up from watching too much college football and march madness. You will see the activity pick up some as soon as the football magazines start hitting the newstands.

I check Stingtalk and the Hive about three times a day, but do not post unless I have something of interest or want to know some information. I am too busy at this time to be original, but I do respond to items of interest. However, if you have some good info, do not neglect to post it for I do read it.

By the way, I just noticed we have a new poster, JacketMom. Welcome JacketMom and post often. Are you a Mom of one of the athletes, or just a fan like most of us?

Thanks for the post Ah. You're one of the ones we can always count on here on Stingtalk. I just have a feeling (and beelieve me I hope I'm wrong) that many will be fleeing the Hive when the changes take place over there. I know we're a small group here, but I also know there are things to share and discuss even when there's nothing going on. Beelieve me, too, I know ALL about how the wife wants a hand in our free time. I still think we can do both, though.

YEAH, Stingmom...do tell! And WELCOME!!!

I think that many on Stingtalk have been like myself... just busy... coupled with the fact that spring football was what most expect from the spring, a few answers, a few surprises, and a few questions.... I am sure things will pick up in the Summer and Fall... whether or not there is posting on this board everyday is not a sign of the quality of this board... I think its one of the best there is... thoughtful posts, good perspectives, and openness to others opinions... by the way... I expect us to win 12 games next year !! if you dont expect to do something you probably wont... CG and DB need to know that we expect excellence... every year!

JF-PCB,

Understand just like Ah said this is a new site. We started this in OCT of last year and did not start getting good recognition until after the FB season.

Many posters are strictly seasonal. Some people's spouses would divorce them if they talked FB 12 months out of the year. Stingtalk is growing and you will see more of a stir around the end of the summer.

Also you have to understand that we have lots of readers that are not yet registered. Our hit count is much greater than our membership. We are adding some enhancements that I believe will increase our registered users. So when you post something it is more than just registered users who read it. It is also probably true that the commercial nature of the "new" hive will increase our members. But as other people have said if you go on the hive or any FB based website posts are down during the off season.

THANKS for all your posts!! Even if it' just ABOUT football posts, it keeps me going. I certainly understand the nature of things since the site is relatively new and much smaller than the Hive. I also understand that football posts are down during the offseason, it's just that basically....I've got an obsession to feed!!

Don't be too concerned. This time of year will always be quiet. The AUC coverage of spring practice was pathetic, so that limits posting to people who were either at spring practice and the comments made about the attendee's post. Spring Break has passed but now its time for final exams. Then vacations will start. I am sure we will have things to talk about for the next three months while we wait for summer camp to start. In addition to tidbits about football, this is a good time to make use of other forum categories here. We are a COMMUNITY. Feel free to tell us about your vacations, post pictures, bring up topics for discussion, review a movie, book, cd, etc. Football drives this website, but I intentionally made it versatile to give us something to do when it's not football season. As soon as I finish with final exams this week, I will start summer traveling and look forward to sharing pics, information, and stories with you y'all. Enjoy!

Good idea to stay away from religion and politics in my opinion. We can have enough 'fun' talking about coaching changes.
I think if we had not changed coaches this year would very possibly have been a very special year. However, anyone that has followed Tech football for very long knows that coaching changes at Tech generally do not go very well the first year or two EVEN if it was a good coaching change. And it is very debatable whether this was a good coaching change or not. However, due to the fact that O'leary left the talent cupboard full, and that Gailey kept O'brien, I am hoping for the best.
Go Jackets.

I am just happy there are posts about Gt Sports at all. I am in east TN and there is very little about GT, if any at all. By the way, I enjoy reading posts about all sports. When I watch PGA, I know which golfers are GT alumni...or when I am watching the NBA playoffs, I know who Matt Harpring is. Of course I share that knowledge with anyone who happens to bee watching the game with me....
OHHHH and by the way, I happen to be female. With the previous discussions on the board, you would think that unless it is a slow moving sport that women don't understand it. (Just kidding)... I have a hard time getting men to take me seriously when I talk about sports and most of the time I actually know what I am talking about!GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO JACKETS!!!!

Hey JacketFanPCB, seems we've gotten things going now over here a bit, whatta ya think?????

I agree that once the Hive moves it will lose that "old shoe" feel that we all enjoy. One reason I have come over here is that I realize change is coming and I'd rather start looking elsewhere now, before the masses jump ship.

I think we have all enjoyed the Hive, and still do. Just nothing wrong with another good board too. RR has MUCH patience and the Hive has been a blessing for many diehard Tech fans.

One thing that is missing over here though is the arrival of any Uga fans
