Is the ACC a one trick pony?

VT won't go to the NC game unless if there are no 1 loss SEC teams. This has been talked about in a recent article by Ms. Dinich.
Because Dinich knows all... I can see VPI in the national title game, easily. OU wins this weekend, and USC stumbles again. One team will be the SEC champ, then you're stuck with VPI or the Big Ten champ.

This, of course, won't happen because of what Wracer said. We're not losing this weekend.

We should get an over/under betting pool going. The number of ridiculous phantom calls we get this weekend because of Swofford's sanctioned refs.

Significantly less. And I think that is due to CPJ's presentation about chop blocking in the off season.

Or the fact that most any line infraction isn't getting called. Jeez, if I see any more holding I'm going to have to call the ACC offices myself. Is it me, or are there very few holding calls this year?

Ms. Dinich doesn't control the vote. There's no way two SEC teams get in, especially not this year.

It wasn't her opinion. It was the resident BCS Guru (who is usually accurate). Here is the link to the article.

I think they would deserve a NC shot, but the BCS wouldn't. As you probably already now, I HATE the BCS.

That's an analysis of the season up to this point, with theoretical(and wrong) results for this weekend. Of course, VPI is not going to jump the SEC champ or a 0-loss Texas. But I don't buy the argument that VPI is out of the MNC race. Which is exactly why I'm worried about the refs on Saturday doing the bidding of the Carolina mafia. The ACC has set themselves up nicely this season. VPI wins out, beats the pants off Wake and plays in either Orange or the MNC. Miami wins out, and plays as an at-large. This is why I think we get the short stick.

True, but that's the best there is out there right now.

Speaking of us getting the short stick, I would be fine going to the Gator of Champs bowl so long as we win. I am tired of losing bowl games.

When we win on Saturday, what are the odds of Tech making it to a BCS bowl game?

If we win out, we'd be a one loss team, possibly the ACC champs. We'd have a top 5 scalp and a road loss on our resume. What are our odds of being an at-large team?

If we are the ACC champs, zero :p. The only way I can see us being an at large team is if we win out and Miami wins out, so Miami goes to the ACC:CG and we are left at 11-1. But even then I think we'd get passed over in favor of a worse team with a better traveling fanbase.

Upon reading your post one almost gets the idea that you actually believe that refs fix games. If that's even believed as a far-fetched possibility, how can you be a fan? Are there scenarios in which you see Tech being the beneficiary of official hanky-panky? Why would the jocks run sprints if there's even a hint that the games were rigged?

Not to mention the loser of the SECCG, Boise St and probably someone from the Big 12 with a 1 loss or 2 loss record all getting consideration. Hell even a 2 loss LSU might get looked at more than us.

Did you not watch the UNC game? It was some of the worst calls/non-calls I've ever seen one-sided.

I'm the first to never blame something on a ref 'ie bad call' because I know for the most part they are human and it goes both ways. But the UNC game it was ALL bad towards GT.

The UNC game was really bad, but in general you will find that every team thinks the refs are against them. You can go on Duke basketball message boards where they think that the ACC is purposely fixing games against them to dispel the notion that games are fixed for them, while at the same time GT message boards are talking about the same exact game as evidence that the ACC is fixing games for Duke basketball.

I doubt there is any actual fixing of games going on.

The UNC game (this year) was the worst officiated game I've ever seen. But it wasn't one sided.

The running the clock out at halftime was inexcusable, but it wasn't even the worst call of the game. The worst call was in our favor when the refs put the ball on the 46 instead of the 48, giving us a 4th down on 3rd and long. I have never, ever seen a crew miss spot the ball by two full yards. They had to go to the replay to move the ball to where it belonged. And when the call came down to push it back to the 48, the refs attempted to spot it on the wrong 48. That would mean they thought is was possible that they misplaced the ball by 6 yards. I think those guys were drunk. It was shameful. The ACC should have set those guys out for at least two games.
