Is the ACC down OR.....

The ACC is "down" because a GT/MD/WF lead conference doesn't pull that much attention. A VT/UM/FSU lead conference, performing equal to that of GT/MD/WF would be considered strong, because they have more pull. Its all about making money, and honestly, GT/MD/WF are a much harder sell than VT/UM/FSU. They could care less how good the teams are.

A GT/WF/MD led conference would be a big draw if they had the recent history that FSU and Miami have. Or will be a big draw when we have strung together 5 Top-10's in the next 5 years

Simply not true. Wake and UMD do not have big football fan bases, and they never will, not compared to the factory schools and the party schools like WVU. Louisville could easily slip in there with continued winning.
UMD's biggest problem re football is that they have a basketball envy thing going on with dook, unc and georgetown.
UMD is a basketball school the same way we are a football school, primarily. There simply will not be enough year round football passion at umd.

On the other hand, Wake is in a very neat spot for Wake fans. However, they are too small and have too clean of an image to create a big non school fanbase. If the Southern Baptists didn't already have their own schools, they could be the next notra dame! ;)

True Miam-ugh fans are few and far between, but they are like Oakland Raider fans. They will show up when they are winning regardless of where they are from.

Tech is completely different. We have what none other on this list has: Respect because of our championship pedigree.
