Never thought I'd see this, but the Cocktail Party is moving to the Benz in '26 and Tampa in '27. So it is not just us going for the dollars. I just don't like where college football is headed. I understand our frustration with moving games to the Benz, and putting aside our hatred with the nadlickers for a secound, this news will affect the economy of a section of our state that lives for that weekend. What about those people? You may say, so what, good for them. I know some Tech people who have investments in that area. It will affect them as well. Goodness, what will we see next?

I know a few connected people in Jacksonville and they believe the contract won't be renewed and the game will go back to home and home.
That’s what I had heard, a lot of alums on both sides pushing for home and home. So if that’s the case, why not go ahead and do that. No, money is talking here.

What does “I don’t like where college football is headed” even mean? People have been saying this for 100 years. It’s an empty rant. Rules always evolve and teams continue to play games. That teams are now playing in different venues (usually bigger) is good for the game. For GT fans to get upset we are playing some games a mile from campus is hysterical to me. I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong about the Ireland game. It turned out to be the best press GT has gotten since the Orange Bowl win. That Florida and UGA finally realized they could monetarily improve their position by moving that game around was smart. They should move it to Vegas every 3rd year.

I’d rather play a game in Ireland every year than play another game at MBS. MBS game v ND was the most sterile atmosphere for a college game that I’ve ever experienced. Completely lifeless from start to finish. 0/10 will not go again.

Game is going back to Jax in 2028 and beyond.

Whose fault is the environment being what you describe at MBS? I mean come on already. The fact that GT got to play a so called “blue blood” program (ND) and get paid to do so less than 5 miles away is a benefit for GT. GT needs all the $$$ they can get right now.

It’s not Blank, MBS, etc fault people didn’t sell the game out. Texas-OU, Army-Navy, etc play every year away from home and the atmosphere isn’t an issue.

Do you seriously think the atmosphere or outcome would have been much different at BDS?

Atmosphere would have been different at BDS. Probably no change in outcome.

There were more fans at MBS (59,021) than BDS holds. So that’s a plus. Since you went, what was the GT/ND ratio?
Being perfectly honest, I have no idea. I was in 200s and mostly Tech fans around. But with the acoustics in the place and the loud PA, it was impossible to figure out where sound was coming from. Everything in there just seems like loud background noise. Plus even with 59k, it just felt dead. I’d have rather played in a packed BDS on a beautiful fall day.

Crazy to me how an NFL team is in Jacksonville to begin with. Move that shiit to Birmingham and make a killing.

Were you inside the stadium during the game?

The atmosphere would have been much different. I don't know that it would have been more *advantageous*, but a night game at an open air old stadium like BDS feels completely different than a game at MBS, which is not just domed but has a lot of sound issues as savband was noting.

I wasn't there for the ND game but was there for that first Tennessee game and felt much the same.

It wasn’t when we beat UNC there. Losing sucks in Bobby Dodd too.
