IT IS SETTLED!- Old Gold is Back

no florida, the jerseys have changed. they wore the jerseys at fan day and are selling them at the bookstore. the new jerseys have pale pansy chan gailey gold instead of old gold.

i am with bor on this one. people said they wanted the throwback gold, then they got it, then they decided they didnt like it.

for what its worth MOST of the younger crowd (the crowd we should be worrying about because they are the future of the program)- at least the ones that i know - liked last years jerseys. if they had a problem with them, it was with the gold britches which was too much for them. i think after some getting used to and maybe some tweaking they would have grown on them.

i LOVED them. especially the helmet. that was old gold.

hate the template all you want, but that was old gold. and now its gone.

now we are back to pale pansy chan gailey ucf vegas gold. gross.

Well that sucks.

Its not the shade, its the horrid template. No one wants that stuff. Changing the gold won't sell a single extra jersey. The only thing I hope is that this change means new yellow uniforms, and those are the throwbacks instead.

And I want to correct the "Gailey" beige. I was wrong. It's Braineless beige.

I am not trying to say you're incorrect. Rather I'd throw in that what is most likely to be really important to the younger crowd is getting the big wins.

Also, one might say that last years gold made it easier to find us on the field. You don't see any military personnel wearing old gold camouflage. :D

The gold last year had too much green in it. Seems like you could take the gold that FSU and Notre Dame uses and just darken it up a little bit, sense it's against white, and it'd look good. I'm no fashion expert though.

Once again, the design sucks. Make us look like we're not a program with 4 NC. Like we're freakin' Louisville or something.

I'd take this, slightly darken/richen up the gold, add navy and gold strips around the sleeves, add navy and white strips down the pants.

You mean like the darker metallic gold the FB team wore in the 80s through 1991 (or so)? It seems like most people could get on board with that (though I personally liked last year's 'mustardy' "old gold" much better than the washed-out "vegas gold", if the choice was just between those two shades).

PS: Can someone post a pic of the gold from 1990 (eg the SI cover with William Bell is a good example of what I'm talking about)?

I am a crabby fan, not crappy. You haven't been to a game until you've sat next to me.

I think I may have at the FSU game. You bear-hugged me and you owe me for two surgeries, brotherman.

(Someone bearhugged me. Who bearhugged me.)

Contrary to what my name may imply, I'm not a fat guy. I'm 6-1" 185lbs. I sit in the chairbacks row seven. I wear a gold blazer, shorts and flip flops typically to the game with two very old Tech buttons. One says "I Like Tech" and the other is of the old school yellow jacket.

I'm not a bear hug kind of guy. But then again, I have been pretty drunk at a couple of games where I may not remember. I only bear hug hot chicks with big tits.

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm talking about!

Can anyone think of any reason why the GTAA couldn't go back to this shade of gold? It's neither (a) the color that some call "urine yellow", nor is it (b) the color that others call "baby-poop".

+1. This is the gold we need to be wearing.

This year's tops looked white and tan to me at fanday.

I liked last year's colors better. Much more contrast between the colors. Pehaps the brighter Gold from last year could even help Nesbitt pick out an open receiver.

The 90 road unis are definitely great. That's what we need. Design and all. Get Russell to make it with newer materials and wear the road uni home and away and I think everyone (relatively) would be happy. We're out thinking ourselves on this uni thing.

That gold we wore last year was not the gold from 90.

Concur!

+1. I strongly agree.

(And if they needed a dark jersey to bring out on infrequent, special occasions they could use the home uniform from that same year--design and all--but with perhaps a darker navy color)
