I really have. It sucks to see all these teams playing teams from other conferences and we're not. Not that I'd want this year's Tech to play anyone else and get embarrassed. But öööö man, even beating a USC without starting qb in El Paso was something. At least Corndog, Flunkout, cyp and I got together to watch that and Corndog was bitching the whole time how we were gonna lose. I miss those days.
 
Yes. Losing the bowl streak sucks. It is a big black mark on CPJ. Hopefully he makes up for it by winning the conference next year.

This year was a disaster. It killed any momentum from last year and to attack Chan Gailey is now idiotic because the same attacks on him are ignored by the triple option aficionados who act like they know everything about football. CPJ just did something that Chan never did, miss a bowl.

Seriously I liked Chan but this is ridiculous. The question of how secure CPJ's job is, is interesting -- but has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that CCG had to go.

That is one thing I miss for sure right now is the bowl game..
 
More recent Tech fans were spoiled - they thought the bowl streak meaningless because they simply took being bowl eligible for granted. Fans from the seventies and eighties knew that a winning season and bowl trip is to be valued. Only winning three times and sitting out football after Thanksgiving weekend is miserable. Now we all know.

See, I didn't want to watch one more second of Georgia Tech football after Thanksgiving weekend. So this works for me.
 
I used the money that I would have used for the ACCC or a bowl to take a beach trip. Not that I am happy about not being in a bowl, but it has been awfully stress free. I have not watched a single bowl and won't watch the games today. I don't care if Clemmons, Bamalama, Meechigan State, or Norman University win crap.

I was around in the eighties and this year was as bad as they come.

It was a miracle that a program who handicaps itself so blatantly made a bowl game 19 years in a row. Complete miracle.
 
Yeah. Because watching us get boat raced by an American conference or mountain west team would have been great.

While I miss the bowl game and wish we still had the streak, this team in no way deserved it. They sucked from top to bottom with poor coaching and a complete lack of focus in all areas. The coaches don't deserve the bonus they get from a bowl game and players don't deserve the trip or the swag.

Absolute garbage is probably a bit over the top.

Considering our skill position losses from attrition and injury losses to returning players and heralded newcomers, we were looking at a max of 5 or 6 wins against a schedule of average difficulty. Ratchet up the schedule strength to top ten and yeah, we are going to have problems.

I'm not thrilled with this season either but nothing is gained by tossing the entire program in the dumpster.

When they do the final rankings @ the end of the year, I would expect we will finish somewhere down around in the 90's or low 100's. If that isn't absolute garbage, I'm curious to hear exactly what you do consider it to be.

I think what he means is that it's semi understandable why we were garbage. When you look back on the factors, there were a lot of things against us.

Not that it excuses a 3-9 season.
