J Batt Thread

Instead of just hiring one up-and-coming AD, we should hire thirty at once - all with buyouts - and unload 8-10 of them every year to the $EC and B1G. Then, hire 8-10 more. Rinse and repeat. That wipes out the financial disparity between us and them. Gotta think outside the box here.
 
This: 2M+ buys a lot of winter clothing. He'll need to learn long O's and to clip his words some, for that part of the country. Class guy who helped us and moved things forward. Not that we should give 2m for an AD, but have to realize we'll lose the next one when this happens again.

Real qqq here is do we settle for a non-climber for 1.3m, or go all in at 2m for the best? That said, I think we already made our decision, as we could have retained J for 2m. so....iiwii.

despite the fact that it's an arms race, we settled for mid-tier AD pay and lost him. I don't have the answer, but don't like the fact that we knowingly gave him away.

Interesting idea. Maybe we hire a guy with a contract that stipulates that if he gets us a B1G invite, he gets a $5M bonus.

I fully believe you can get a climber for 1.3m
