I had that happen one time but it was embedded in the middle of the pad of my thumb. In there up to the hilt (Rapala, I think). There was beer involved and for a few dangerous moments the plan was to say 'one, two, three' and my roommate was going to yank it out. So glad we didn't do that. Probably be missing a thumb. Wound up going to an emergency clinic.

Got a pop-r stuck in my leg. Pushed the barb through, cut off the barn and then pulled the hook out.
