Any shot at him or is he bound somewhere else, gojackets.com has him at medium interest with us. Another Tucker LB who looks to be great 6-3 220 4.55!

I'd be very surprised if any Tucker player could get into or through GT. I guess there are exceptions to every rule but Tucker has a very poor academic reputation - even for Georgia standards.

Sounds perfect for Hargrave.

I am by no means an insider, but I think there is a shot. Kid has family up in Ohio so Ohio State fans are drooling over him (thats how I first learned about him). Came to Ga Tech for the UNC game. He has visited the Swamp this year, Ohio State, and also made it out for the UGA- LSU game. He will without question be one of the top recruits in the country next year.

...has written offers from Florida, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Stanford, Alabama, Duke, Georgia Tech, North Carolina State, Notre Dame and Tennessee.

Seems to be a good kid by all estimations...why the hating on this kid already. He may end up a dog, but even still. Don't like the Hargrave comments...

I said there are exceptions to every rule and I'm not hating on the kid, just the high school he attends. Tucker is definitely a case of "where there's smoke, there's fire".

If he can handle GT after the "preparation" he receives at Tucker, then he's a special person.

GT isn't really known for giving kids academic breaks to prove themselves in college... you have to get in, then you can play...

Scout says we have already offered him, so I wouldn't profile him as an academic issue just because he goes to Tucker. This guy could instantly turn us into a contender. Paul Johnson doesn't want to settle for also ran recruits. We need players like him to win a national championship.

That's not my point though. As far as I know, these are comments based solely on other kids from Tucker and not on James Vaughters. I just don't get why our fanbase sometimes downtalks recruits we think we're not going to get. If it's really about academics - say there is a concern about his academic standing, but dont say "HARGRAVE". We, as fans, actually mean something in this recruiting process. Why would a kid want to go to a school that didn't ever give him a chance?

He has an offer from Stanford, I doubt his academics are poor.
We were recruiting a linebacker early last year at Tucker and backed away, he ended up at Central FL, I dont know what the story was on that.

I bet even Tucker has enough kids who care that they organize a couple of classes that are either AP or at least better than the zoo that is the rest of the school.

When's the last time we got an S-A out of Tucker High School?

Yeah, there has to be at least a few smart people at every school, right?

Personally, I would have liked to know more about AP classes when I was in HS. Would have saved me some time in college.

This kid is legit in every aspect. He has a 4.0 GPA to go along with the football measurables.

The kid reminds me a lot of Myron Rolle in terms of his football decision. Like Rolle (i.e. "Mr. Rhodes Scholar") he expects to excel academically wherever he ends up, so his decision will be based primarily on football. He's also made trips to visit two schools in Los Angeles, so staying close doesn't seem to be a priority.

BTW, Tucker's current coach (3rd year) has a PhD and is a Georgia Southern grad. Check him out by clicking HERE.

Guys. Assuming academic failure is one of the things people give us a hard time about. At least try to do a little research first...pretty please!

James Vaughters is an honors student at Tucker.

Yes, Tucker has been a UGA pipeline and UGA is in the top two with Ohio State. GaTech is solidly in third and knocking on the door. He is giving GT solid consideration...and his father is heavily involved who claims he will be looking at academics as much as football. UNC is in the fourth spot.

He does have a written offer from GT. He is cleared academically assuming continued progress.

Well, there sure as Hell are at least a few dumb ones at every school so there's no particular reason to think the other end of the Bell Curve isn't represented.
