First of all, let me say that I in no way think there should be a quarterback controversy. Nesbitt is the starter.

But, am I the only one who thought Jaybo was excellent in handling the ball in a way that was very deceptive looking, and contributed to some big gains? There were a few plays where I was completely fooled on who had the ball, and I had an excellent angle and was watching the ball the whole time.

Jaybo played very well and looked good, but I wouldn't expect anything less, he played this O in HS.

No, you're not the only one, Bees... It's clear that Jaybo has been running this offense for some time now. The little fakes, the look-offs, the pace of his reads -- all show his experience. That said, just wait until Josh gets it like Jaybo does....

I don't think Jaybo played from under center in HS. I could be wrong.

But I do think that perhaps his high school might start playing from under center, given the impression and success that Tech has had this year, considering how his dad is the coach of their team, and considering how his son also has an offer from Tech, and how his son is their current starter, etc.

Quite a few plays where I thought we went for 0-2 yards, only to see JS come flying down the line and pitch it off for 7-10 yards.

in a way the fact that Jaybo cannot really make a freak athletic play like Nesbitt leads us to be more disciplined in running the system. it looked pretty sharp.

i think this is a big mental load off the team, to know that we can play to win with Jaybo if Nesbitt gets hurt.

As of today I would call Shaw a better QB, and Nesbitt a superior athlete and superior playmaker.

Jaybo does well with the option, but so far his throwing doesn't look up to snuff. Not down on him at all, but a QB has to be able to do it all. Josh needs to continue to improve with the option, Jaybe needs to get his arm stronger.

I think Jaybo ran the offense incredibly well. Ball handling and reads cannot be overestimated in this system. Was Danny Myers a better QB than Rudy Allen or Gary Lanier better than Mike Kelly? Of course not, but they ran the wishbone much better.

Nesbitt is a tremendous athlete. He is far and away a better option passing and a better open field runner. We will probably have a better chance of winning against Clemson, Miami, and UGA caliber competition with him if he continues to improve reads and ball handling. He has already come a long way.

But, Shaw runs this thing beautifully.

Unless he is 100%, I would not want Nesbitt to play before Clemson unless we are sure that there is no increased chance of reinjuring the hamstring.

We get the off week and Jaybo can beat Duke and my mom could beat Garner Webb.

We have a tough stretch after that and Nesbitt is a difference maker.

Jaybo looked very sharp in this offense, but there is no doubt that Nesbitt is the starter. Jaybo did not look good throwing the football at all(very understandable), which is something that is not totally necessary in this offense, but really gives us several more options and extreme big play potential(as if this offense needed more). Nesbitt doesn't seem to be as efficient as Shaw on the T.O. and for some reason Shaw seems to pitch the ball in a position to allow the runners to have more success with the run(pitch sweeps and TO), but Nesbitt is the QB. From an experience standpoint, we need to remember that Shaw is the more experienced QB in this offense. I believe he ran it 2 years in High School and Nesbitt has been seeing it for only a few months. When Nesbitt gets as efficient as Shaw looked Saturday, with his athletic ability and arm, the offense will be amazing.

I don't know about that. Going into Death Valley without any snaps in a game in a month seems like it would be a bad idea.

If necessary, run a snap or two in the GW game. I don't think that it is necessary since practicing against our DL is scarier than Clemson.

There was one point in the game where I said "which of the three people who just got tackled had the ball?"

I'm down with that, as long as you include the caviat that Nesbitt is a better passer, and a better overall option at QB as long as he doesn't turn the ball over.

beej, Jaybo put the ball on the ground twice yesterday, we just came up with it. There will be balls on the ground with this offense. We just need to minimize it and be awake to recover them.

QFT

I don't think there's a QB controversy either. I do believe that Jaybo looked more comfortable running the offense, and he was very effective.

Nesbitt's the better athlete so he has to play. I do think Jaybo's performance saturday makes it real hard for CPJ to keep him on the bench though.

What a great "problem" to have.

Then Nesbitt's job should be 100% secure for the next couple of games.

I think we should pay a lot of attention to Duke and GW. I foresee one half of Nesbitt and one half of Jaybo in each of those games, so they will be a good indicator of who fumbles less.

What a great "problem" to have.

Yeah no kidding. I don't recall ever having this "problem" before at Tech, even during the Fridge years.

Andy Hall vs. George Godsey. In that instance we lost Andy Hall and he went on to win a title at Delaware. Goose was the better choice, but that's about the only QB controversy we had in my time as a fan.

Andy Hall vs. George Godsey.
That wasn't a "Both these guys are too good! Which do we pick?" thing. That was a "ugh, which of these guys might end up being good?" thing. Godsey ended up great, but prior to the 4th quarter in the Central Florida game, we were all pretty worried that he was going to suck.

For straight up QB controversies, we've had plenty. Suggs vs Bilbo stands out. But that wasn't because we felt great about both, it was because we didn't feel great about either.

What we have now is a new "problem."
