According to Josh Newberg of Scout, Jaybo Shaw has been verbally offered by the Jackets. PJ is supposed to do an in-home visit with Jaybo later this week. USF is also in the mix, but I don't think that they have offered yet. Apparently, they are waiting on an answer from BJ Daniels. Jaybo showed strong interest in the Jackets before Johnson was even hired. I would not be surprised at all if we get a committment from him by the end of the weekend.

That is positive news! Looks like it won't take CPJ long to pick right up on recruiting HIS players.

did he really run a 4.45?
what is his shuttle?

is he legit 6 foot or smaller...he is slight by weight, but we should be able to add pounds

need a guy who is solid in option football...takes alot of hits

There's a big difference between his scouts profile and his rivals one. Weird...

Shaw lacks great size but is athletically-built and utilizes his lean frame and quick feet to avoid the rush. Throws better on the run and moving outside of the pocket. Tends to wind up but flashes a live arm and can deceptively get the ball downfield on vertical routes. However, this kid is far more dangerous with his legs than his arm. Possesses great ball handling skills and fakes; expertly reads the end on zone option reads and is a very decisive and sudden decision maker. Shows good vision, speed, and movement skills in the open field avoiding defenders. However, I would like to see him build up his body with added bulk and strength to break more tackles and absorb the big hits at the next level.

Miller Safrit from Scout writes:
Jaybo Shaw has some of the best mechanics in the Southeast and has an arm that will go for days, but most college coaches will see that he is 5-10 and back away. He is the type of player who will go to a smaller program and be an all-conference player for two years. Reads safeties very well, understands holes in the zone, and has a very go

I personally don't want our QB or any other players involved with dueling. End up like Alexander Hamilton did with Aaron Burr.

Now a dual threat qb would be a great thing.

We have been talking to Jaybo for the past 6-8 weeks. We should definitely get him if we offer as Middle Tenn St is our competition.
I have not watched his film yet...but it seems this is the type of recruit we will be going after for offense. We may go after another in this class as well.

his time of 4.22 in the shuttle is very promising!!!

followup....shuttle is more important that 40 time in option work....and DAMN he has that wiggle needed when watching his tapes.

Joe H had a great shuttle...only a 4.6 40....

By the way does BJ Daniels have an offer? Scout lists that he does but one never knows since it lists Josh Jarboe as having an offer but we have all known for a while the he doesn't. If BJ does have an offer what are our chances with him?

clearly a 15 yarder...im glad someone was dumb enough to post that to youtube. what does it prove? that he got hit hard and he still is going D-1? nice.

the kid that did that is a mag and has nothing better to do if that answers your question.. just trying to rub it in that 1 team killed him year after year.

Is it just me or do we seem to have some young posters on this site who need a course in maturity before they are allowed to post messages?

He weighted in at 164 at one camp and 176 at another...we need to get that up to 190. My only other concern is his slow delivery on the throw at times...kind of winds up to get his entire body into it on the longer throws.
He does seem to read defenses extremely well (he is a coach's son) and has very fast feet (hence the 4.22 short shuttle time). He runs the option exceedingly well....hides the ball well, etc.

Intresting quote from him though...I cannot quite figure what he is indicating:
”I like Georgia Tech because they are 45 minutes from my house and they play in the ACC. I haven’t met coach Johnson yet, I want to see what kind of offense he plans on running. That will be what I really want to find out, I doubt that he’ll use the true triple option that he ran at Navy."

Maybe I should start my own thread, but it's a small question. Terrell Pryor says his search is wide open. He looks like a bright kid. Would CPJ throw his hat in that ring? And we might have an outside chance if CPH offered a spot as well.

I mean, why the hell not? The kid is ranked #1 in football overall (not just dual-threat QBs), #3 SF in basketball, 3.4 GPA. Talk about taking it to the next level.
