Jaybo Shaw

Please be more vague sir, the great amount of detail you provide is burning my eyes.

Calm down, he's not going to murder Jaybo. That's ridiculous.

Shaw, replacing Nesbitt? That's laughable. As much as the problems Nesbitt faces are bad, Jaybo's are worse. I have said it before, and I'll say it again: Jaybo will probably always be a second stringer.

I think CPJ's going to pull the plug.

I'm assuming you mean he's going to start Jaybo at QB. That's just plain dumb. Nesbitt is NOT our problem. Most of the time he's making bad reads have to do with our crappy OLine making piss poor blocks. He's just assuming something's not going to be there and many times, he's right.

You haven't been paying attention. Josh is a BIG part of it (I didn't say the only part) and CPJ is liable to make a move towards his boy. Watch and learn. I'm not teasing. I'm serious.

ps - you're initial reactions were priceless. thanx! (lmao)

Fixed. I don't see Jaybe passing Washington now.

You're ignorant. Part of Josh's problems are due to the OLine's problems. We solve the line and Aback issues and Josh makes better reads. Jaybe is way to slow and fragile. See FSU last year when he almost lost the game for us.

Seriously? Nesbitt probably had a good bit, if not a majority, of our rushing yards last night. He also made some decent passes. If you really think Shaw would have done better last night, you are an imbecile.

I have to agree with whats been posted above. All of our problems on offense start with the OL.

and if that's the case, then gnats is another one of the idiots on here.

The hits keep coming
gnats has been posting for a while, I am surprised you just formed an opinion one way or other. He has a lot of posts that are meaningless or vague, seeming like he is drunk. No problem with that though :)

Earlier he did confirm that he did mean replacing Josh with Jaybo.

Few things on Josh.

- He has an incredible desire to compete...he is a fire.
- He is a silent leader...not the type to rally troops on the sideline. Kind of Vick-like without the dog mangling part.
- he runs the ball extremely well..hard to bring down.
- would love to have all of our future QB's built like him...he is durable.
- He plays hurt...understands he is a football player.
- He holds the ball too long on pass plays....hence Thomas always having to stop his routes. Even when getting flushed out of the pocket there was often times someone open before that.
- He stays locked on Thomas on pass plays...has a hard time looking at multiple guys.
- He has trouble reading the DE often times on the triple option and will give the ball to the BB when there is room to create 2 on 1's on the outside.

There are many positives with Josh...and a few things he needs to get better at.

Nesbitt had 29 yards on 14 carries.

Of course, as an offense we only had 95 on 35. Wow that is depressing.

The good news is we had 133 passing! I think James Johnson is trying to rejoin the team! Who said we wouldn't be able to pass the ball as well as we run it?

I thought Josh played hard - he seems to have a lot of heart. But, his footwork still seems slow to me. We have to get quicker making the inside fake and read and getting to the corner. If Jaybo is quicker at reads getting us to the corner, I predict he will get some opportunity to play. We have to pick up the speed of our option offense. The less we run options and use straight pitches and handoffs, the easier we are to defend.

I agree with most of the posts in this thread. Let me recap:
  • Josh athletically is way better than whomever is second string especially at running the ball
  • Josh does not read the option as good as others and is not improving
  • Josh does not read coverage or progress on receivers on pass plays
Everyone in every job needs to know that they are accountable and have to perform their best every day. I would have no problem with letting the 2nd stringer come in after a really bad series and see if he can change things up a little.

It gives the incumbent a time to rest, reflect, and think about how to do better and develop a resolve to show "them" he is the best. It also makes him take the accountability to perform seriously.

Therefore, I would love to see Jaybo/Tevin come in if Josh is not getting it done. That would apply to any position where the backup is capable.

I also agree with the comments that unless the OLine does better it probably won't make much difference but who knows if that read coming .1 seconds sooner might not put the D on their heels a little.

I think this is overlooked for how crucial it is to our offense. Nesbitt MUST get better at this aspect of the offenseor PJ will have one of his recruits in there in no time flat.
