Jaybo with broken collarbone

That sucks. I have broken both of mine playing football. Very painful for first 2-3 weeks. If it is his non-throwing shoulder it could be as few as 6 to return iirc... If it is his right shoulder, I think it is a lot more likely he will redshirt. Any word on which one?

Edit: just saw it is his rt on the twitter link... ****.

Coley said he saw Jaybo with his right arm in a sling.

Praying for a speedy recovery not just for football, but routine day to day functions. Get well Jaybo.

Just saw this on Facebook. This definitely sucks - especially for Jaybo. My guess is Tevin takes the #2 spot and never lets Jaybo get back in front of him after Nesbitt's gone. I sure hope Tevin is working his butt off in practice.

If anyone can think of a bright spot to this news, please share it.

Still 3 weeks 'til kickoff... I would assume 5-6 on the recovery and maybe a couple of more to be game ready depending on how bad the fracture is, how quick he heals, etc. However dim of a bright spot it is, it is better that it happened now than in 2 weeks.

So best case, back by UNC... most likely back by FSU.

Worst case: red shirt.

So at this point I doubt we redshirt Sims. If people in the coaching staff are even mentioning redshirt then we won't redshirt Sims.

You've watched Luallen practice? He is not game ready either.

I won't deny we'd be screwed if we have to play Sims against a good or decent opponent, but I think Sims would be able to manage Miss St or Duke by the time those games roll around and could hopefully hold on to a lead in a game if its later in the season, if its first 4 or 5 weeks then that gets less likely.

Sims and Luallen won't even come into the picture unless Nesbitt and Washington both go down (see Gardner Webb though). I see one of the two getting redshirted giving us 3 QB's. I just don't know which one it will be.

Luallen would play BUT he has been hurt and missed a lot.

Sims doesn't know the offense yet.

If Shaw takes a redshirt and it turns out we can't manage without him 3-4 weeks into the season, can we then pull the redshirt? Since our toughest part of the season is the first several weeks, we might not need him as badly by the time he's able to play.

If we do not get past Nesbitt & Washington before Jaybo comes back, then we can still redshirt Luallen and Sims. As far as I know you do not have to declare "redshirt" at any point... If they end up not coming into the games, you can use the redshirt. Same with Jaybo, the redshirt discussion does not need to happen until he is set to come back.

And suffice it to say his first two weeks of school are going to absolutely suck. It hurts to sit still, much less stand or walk to class even with painkillers. Definitely cannot write.

Optimistically speaking, Josh could stay healthy all season and Tevin could become a greater backup than Jaybo.

(knock on wood)
