OK, so your reading the AJC in the AM and come across this.

"Georgia Tech's options is at an all-time high. One reasons is quarterback Josh Nesbitt. The other is Coach Paul Johnson, who bamboozled Mickey Andrews last week.

Before the season, I would've thought the jackets had no shot. Not so sure now. Virginia Tech is good, but not great.

Can't believe I'm doing this. Sink it! Drink it!

Take the gift 3. But the Jakets win this straight up."

The AJC UA Alumni newspaper is picking GT over VT??
:eek5:

Before the season most of the predictions I saw had VT winning the conference, but losing this game. If anything, VT's stock has risen as the season has progressed.

Not sure what Schultz is talking about.

Meh, i could see where he is going with this. The beginning of the year I had US as being a great team (until the Jax State game...). The Hokies are a great team, but they're beatable, and not just by Alabama.

I think we have the ability to eeek this one out, but it will be TOUGH and close. Either way, I'm expecting a loss tomorrow. Won't stop me from yelling my lungs out, though!

IMO, that's partly because VPI did not get obliterated by Alabama like many people, myself included, predicted pre-season. Granted, VPI has taken care of business rather efficiently this season, but I would be extremely concerned if I were an Emasculated Turkey fan. Duke gave VPI a game; and Boston College is just a bona fide terrible team who only managed 24 points on an attrocious F$U defense at home.

I expect VPI to win, but GT has about an even shot in this game, imo. If Tyrod, et al. stall on offense tomorrow night, end game; this is not the same GT team from past years (i.e. no more "Gailey pussy ball").

This was a classic situation for the Jackets to show up and play "chan-esque". If we show up and win this game, or play respectable football, I'll finally know once and for all that ghosts of Chan Gailey and Reggie Ball are exorcised from BDS.

This is a concern in the back of my mind too. Losing a hard fought game is fine with me, but losing in a chan-esque performance will set this program back.

I have a feeling CPJ will not let this happen.

It's obvious why he picked us. By picking us, he hedges his bets. If we win, he says he was right. If we lose, he can really lay into us. He loves doing that. Since he picked us, he will be able to say that we were supposed to win this one, but we fell short as always or something like that.

Think of it this way. If he picked against us, he would have to write about how we are exceeding expectations, etc. if we win. And if we lost, he wouldn't have much to say badly about us because he expected us to lose.

He's just hedging his bets.

Maybe he actually thinks we'll win. Hell, I do.

Paranoia much?

Virginia Tech is not now, nor have they been in recent years, a great team. They are a well coached, well disciplined, good team. They should probably be ranked about 17th or 18th right now. We are 5-1, they are 5-1. We lost to Miami, they lost to Alabama. We should look at this as our "rematch" with Miami. If VT had played Miami in Miami in decent whether, that game might have been completely different. Way too much is being made of the common opponent results. We will have to play our best game of the year to date, but if we do, we send them home losers.

Exactly my feelings about the Miami loss. We got steam-rolled. I'd be very surprised if we get our clock cleaned Saturday.

Damn you all, I'm starting to feel confident about this game. Et tu, Yukon? I had been trying to avoid thinking we'll clobber the turkeys. Sigh. Hopefully I'll turn pessimistic again by kickoff.

Playing VT in football is a lot like playing Duke in basketball. They rarely make mistakes and when you do, they make you pay every time.

I'm not sure which matchup scares me the most: their offense against our defense or their special teams against our special teams. Its gonna take a lot for our offense to make up the deficit in those two mismatches.

Does VT have any dbacks capable of shutting down Bay-Bay one-on-one?

Should be an interesting matchup - if we can run the option well enough to keep Chancellor up in the box then it looks like BayBay wins the matchup with either starting corner (listed at 5'11" and 5'10"). Chancellor matches up favorably at 6'4". Their defensive backfield is an experienced group - 3 SRs and 1 JR.

Lets not forget Stephen Hill.

True. Another part to the equation is Worilds and their DLine giving BayBay/Hill enough time to get behind the secondary. Maybe early in the game their corners will play off enough to where we can bust 'em for a couple of WR screens and get the corners to cheat up some.

I NEVER expect a LOSS (not a rip)--GT has the ball last--scores--wins---GO JACKETS!!
