I'm not sure that is really too absurd, especially given each team's outlooks for the coming season. The Braves can't even sell out their playoff games consistently. Atlanta just isn't a pro sports town. If you're talking about the nation as a whole, the Braves are a much bigger deal, not only to people who generally follow MLB but also to their legions of fans in neighboring states which don't have a baseball team. I think the article was probably just about Georgia though.
