Jeff @ the AJC Says GT's is now tougher...

We don't know how good Miami or FSU are until they play other teams. The same goes for most teams in college football at the moment.

That's somewhat true, but watching that game you could tell that both were better than NCSU and USCeast. Both games were close, but the NCSU-USCeast game was much more sloppy and poorly played. Miami and FSU seemed to be at least good, maybe very good. Certainly Miami's quarterback play was very impressive.

True. I can't wait for our match up with Miami and FSU. First thing's first: Clemson.

Whatever. I saw some really amazing plays on both sides of the ball last night. I'm worried as hell.

Considering our poor showing against Jacksonville State and last night's fantastic game, I am as well worried.

However, consider the following:

  1. Bobby Bowden admitted that his biggest worry was his secondary. It showed. The game was lost by his secondary. They made Jacory Harris look like a stud. Our secondary is quite the opposite of our biggest worry. Burnett will have two ints vs. Miami.
  2. It was a rivalry game for both of these teams. This is why they both appeared "on".
  3. Both defenses essentially sucked. Our offense is designed to outrun other offenses. I hope it does!

Im not worried at all i dont think either team has the D to stop us on offense. But right now lets concentrate on Clemson.

Most of those passes were dead on the money, often into reasonably good coverage, and we couldn't have done any better.

We better score 40 on Miami because they're going to score in the 30s guaranteed.

True Jacory looked exponentially better than he did last year, but he had a couple wild ones as well.

Given Miami's seemingly improved passing game, and our seemingly rock solid secondary, I predict that Miami will throw for around 300 yards against us, which is slightly more than they did last year.

I don't think they will put up 30+ on us though.

Maybe I'm just being a homer but our JSU performance isn't worrying me nearly as much as it is everyone else.

There is a pretty great comment under that article:

AN OPEN LETTER TO MARK RICHT
Calmed down enough to type coherently. I have been supporter of yours. That ended in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Now believe you are a liability to my beloved Bulldogs. See only downward trend, bitter losses and complete unaccountability. Know why loss in Oklahoma to overrated Cowpatties anguished Bulldog Nation so much? No, I did not think you did! These northern upstarts disrespected the Dawgs. Called them out! Mocked them by saying the point spread would be 300 plus points. Those 24 points seemed like 100! Know what would have happended had the loudmouths treated Alabama, Florida or LSU in such a manner? Their new fancy smancy stadium would have been broken in with a loss of no less than four touchdowns! Any SEC/Southern team with any pride or dignity whatsoever would have left that new stadium with a victory! The Dawgs should have been motivated enough to kick those upstart cowboy wannabes into Texas! The fact they were not exposes your skills as a motivator. The Dawgs did post a face-saving TD then went through the motions for the next three plus quarters. The field goal was an unanticipated plus which meant nothing in the big scheme. You appeared so uninterested that you failed to get your hair ruffled during an obviously biased fourth down mark against the Dawg defense which led to one Cowpatty TD plus a phantom personal foul penalty on Dawgs which led to another. I am hoping that a donation to your favorite charity was not made by that zillionaire in Oklahoma but I have ruled nothing out. It was a sad day for the Bulldog Nation, Southern football and all who believe loudmouth blowhards should get their comeuppance! The Dawg season is officially over. Even if you beat SC by 100 points. You would not if you could! Being a Christian is fine but a lying backstabber has the Crimson Tide in the hunt for a national championship! Will not mean anything in hereafter but fans in Alabama sure feel happier than members of Bulldog Nation in here and now! How deep is pain? Imagine a stranger having intimate relations with daughter/girlfriend/wife or son/boyfriend/husband in a tremendously expensive hotel room then you are required to pay the tab. Vile and nauseating. A bunch of Cowpatties abused the Bulldog Nation without consequence. That is something I will never forget! Nor forgive. Do the right thing. Said as simply and plainly as I could. A completely disillusioned Stendec."

Both Miami and F$U now look tougher after watching that game. They have speed and talent that will stretch into the fourth quarter. We have tough games ahead. Yes, Clemson is the first and will give us a good indicator of how much we've improved. I see tough games against Clemson, UNC, F$U, Miami, VPI, and UGA; however, we should at least split those games and those should be our only losses. I'm seeing a 2-loss season at this point - but things change with every week and with every injury (ours or theirs).

Loved this quote by Jeff. Helps put most of the negativity on this board into place.

"Some were surprised when Tech coach Paul Johnson laid into his team after the lopsided, 37-17, win over Jacksonville State. He called his players’ performance “ragged,” said they, “were just not nasty enough,” and added, “Maybe we should’ve knocked the crap out of them in fall camp; they wouldn’t drop [the ball] as much.”
But he knew exactly what he was doing. The Jackets could’ve won that game 60-0 and Johnson would’ve found fault. The season will be defined what they do in the conference. And the conference just got tougher."

Shannon sucks period. He may win a big game or two here and there, but the D is still suspect and undisciplined. We will run all over them....again.

The coverage wasn't the best I've seen, but it wasn't very atrocious either. What I did see, though, was a lot of really, really good receivers and I'm scared as hell of both teams' big play ability.

True. Unfortunately, I think we play all of the toughest teams in the conference again this year. I think that Miami, FSU, UNC, Clemson, us, and Virginia Tech are the toughest ones out there. The two out of our conference we get to play.

CU, FSU, WF >>> BC, MD, NCSt

GT probably has the three strongest Atlantic teams on the schedule this season.

I still think we win both games against Miami and FSU. I'm glad we sucked against JSU, although I feel bad for the boys this week. Paul Johnson is probably making their lives hell.
