JHD with us yes or no?

He now goes by Jabari Hunt (no Days). There is probably a story behind that, but maybe it's just an easier name to remember for professional purposes.

You can have TJ Barnes, I'll take Adam Gotsis.
You can have Vad Lee, I'll take Justin Thomas.
You can have AT Barnes, I'll take Julian Burnett.

Go back and watch JHD play. He makes plays and is the type of player you want on your team. I assure you that the team is better with JHD eligible to play than without. I doubt he starts in the Orange Bowl because that isn't how football works. But, he will play and you will be glad he did. Then next year you will be thinking about how ridiculous your concerns over theoretical weight gain, position changes, and general nonsense statistics that Tech fans tend to focus on because they struggle to evaluate live play.

The kid can play.

Mel kiper had him as a draft pick as a soph. He probably would be heading to the league if he had played this year. Generally, a football player adding weight is a good thing....what's the argument again?

Contrainians be contrainianing for the sake of contrainianin.

I don't think that strategy worked out too well for Dwyer.

I hope he is good at DE/DT, because I remember him being slow and completely unable to cover anybody in pass coverage while at LB. Some of you are building him up as a former star when he was a very, very average player.

It's really hard to get guys back on the rails academically once they've gone off.

Well he didn't want to be called Hunt-Davis.

I don't understand why this isn't figured out yet. If grades were really posted yesterday. Seems like we should have heard go or no go last night.

Does he have to apply for reinstatement from the NCAA for academics? If so, I doubt GT will announce his eligibility before he's officially reinstated.

Depends on the circumstances. General lack of attendance and effort is different than one really tough professor.

IIRC, JHD was basically told that if he wanted to play, he'd better figure out DE. The facts are that he was indeed slow and lost his starting spot by the end of 2013. Now suddenly, a bunch of people who have never seen him play DE are convinced that we can't win without him.

The comments have been made in multiple forums that he has been tearing it up on the scout team, and I believe he won the scout team player of the year defensively. Can't win without him? I wouldn't say that, but if he can't play DT next year, we've seen what we have at the position to replace Shawn Green. It is worse than Jabari ever was at LB. Granted, Gamble has looked pretty decent at strongside DE, but he and Kallon have gotten thrown around like ragdolls at DT. Other option is to hope one of the true freshman just happens to show up ready to play like Freeman did.

He's going to play DT. You won't see him at DE unless it's one our 3 man fronts. We have a log jam at DE already. Freeman is the best WDE we have and Gamble is the best SDE. He will sub in for Gotsis or Green.

Jabari was playing solid in 2012 and looked GREAT in the bowl game against USC. Whatever lead to him struggling in class in 2013 was probably the same thing that lead to him struggling on the field. He's one of the best athletes on the team - had the #2 Nike Sparq score when he was recruited.

We can agree to disagree about whatever he actually weighs right now. If he's been as effective on the scout team as PJ and the oline players have suggested, then he's GOT to be an upgrade over Kallon, who can't get low to save his life. I don't know if he'd beat Green or Gotsis out for a starting spot this year but if he does get back qualified to play you can bet he will be starting DT beside Gotsis in 2015. That's solid depth that we've sorely missed plenty of times this year. Not that we can't win games without him but he'll definitely be a major contributor.

I guess we are waiting for some official clearance from the NCAA for JH. I'm sure they'd love to vacate our OB win based on a technicality like he failed to use a #2 pencil on his final exam.

We need moar depth there above all; he doesn't necessarily need to be an all out monster out there.
