John Bond is new OC at GT...

Another half year of anticipation on whether these wheels can get rollin. With the new SA's I am very optimistic.

2-007... what a great year to hire Bond John Bond as our OC!

That's great!!!
2-007 GT Hires Bond!

GOLD'IN BOND ERA(begins) Take us to new levels of greatness John!

I actually thought Nix had great potential or at least tremendous ambitions, but I think this is an upgrade with more experience.

I see a breakthrough year next year for GT. To HELL with Georgia.

I suppose that this would make Chan "M." Tenuta can be "R," Geis can be Felix, and D-Rad can be the prime minister. Logically, Richt can be the ring-leader of "SPECTRE," Friedgen can be Goldfinger, Bobby Bowden can be Jaws (or Jowls... more appropriately), and John Swofford can be Octopussy.

Perhaps the best news is that Bond's most recent offenses appear to play to our strengths. We have a strong returning crop of Offensive Linemen and a great lead running back with a deep backup corp. The question marks are QB and WR (and maybe TE) so hiring a gunslinger coach would probably have made for a disappointing 2007...

He does need to keep our current FB involved for one more year IMHO.

All in all this looks to be very good.

Anybody know who is our QB coach? Is Bond a QB coach? Didn't Nix do both?

i agree we need to keep cox active i love to see him take out a dl or lb

Bond has been and will be our qb coach. He stated in the AJC article that he'll make use of Mike.

This is the type of move I've been waiting to happen.

I hope he does a great job but in any event I believe Gailey will finally give the keys to someone else to run the show. I know that is supposed to be what happened with Nix but I don't 100% believe it.

IMHO, Gailey plays the CEO role better than he does the middle management / worker bee role. Just wish he would have come to this conclusion before 5 years had passed.

That is all behind us now and I am optimistic with what the new changes and recruits can bring to the table.

No, Swofford was in Goldfinger with Friedgren as Pussy Galore with her Flying NC Mafia Circus aka the ACC. Remember, he's a little girl. Bobby Bowden is more like the Sheriff JW Pepper in Live and Let Die and the Man With the Golden Gun ("Boy, you're that English secret agent from England").

By the way, who's R? Do you mean Q - Desmond Llewelyn's and John Cleese's character?

Nix had 100% control

An OC that likes to run more than pass? Could it be possible? I sure hope so. I'm of the run first to set up the pass group. The ratio should be between 70/30 and 60/40 with our RB crew. We have the depth to stay fresh.

Very aggressive hire. I like it 100%.

We're improved.

It has been reported in too many other places that most of the game was "scripted" and that Nix only had options in 10 to 20 percent of the game. Anytime I see Gailey put on the headset, you know he is involved.

Reading the article in today's AJC makes me even more excited about John Bond. I was aware of his success with Garrett Wolfe, but I did not know that Phil Horvath had such good passing numbers under Bond in 2005. After 4 years of RB, I've forgotten what it would be like to have a QB complete 70% of his passes.

As long as Bond is aware of the fact that TEs are eligible receivers, then I think that alone should make him an improvement over Nix.
