John Bond is new OC at GT...

This is a great hire IMO. Looking forward to next season even more now. Maybe Bond John Bond can make TC next year's NCAA rushing champion.

007 should be memorable!

Re: This is the type of move I've been waiting to happen.

The head coach is always involved that's why he's called the head coach.
Nix has been QUOTED in the Miami Papers and in some interviews as saying He had 100% control of play calling in 2006 at GT.
If I can find those live interviews I'll post them, then maybe nobody will question what he said.

It has been reported in too many other places that most of the game was "scripted" and that Nix only had options in 10 to 20 percent of the game. Anytime I see Gailey put on the headset, you know he is involved.

really...you KNOW he is involved...and not just listening so he can evaluate and teach after the fact.

Pure supposition on your part.

From how I understand it, Chan was involved a lot in general game planning, ie when to pass and run, but didn't call the specific plays. The idea was that he would think in terms of what's needed on a specific game for the gameplan and Nix would get into calling the specific play.

Oh for Christ's sake.

Chan was not involved in the offensive game planning at all, this past year. He actually forced himself to leave the room this past year, to keep him out of Nix's business.

Somehow, I wonder if we'd have tried using Calvin Johnson as the pitch man on speed option (dumbest game plan evar) vs Clemson if Chan had some sort of veto power.

Re: This is the type of move I've been waiting to happen.

Calling BS on that on e gtmg. Link just one source to back up your claim. When that specific question was asked at one point during the season, Chan said he listens in on ALL phases of the game including the defensive coaches. You do know that headsets can be tuned to either group right? So really? EVERY time Chan puts on the 'phones he's making an offensive play call? You never saw him with the headset on while they other team had the ball?

You're so full of anti-Chan bull you're ridiculous.

Desmond Llewelyn played Q, John Cleese's new character is R.

As to the "Chan with headphones," I saw him with his headphones on, but it looked like his mouthpiece was in the fully upright and locked position, ie listening mode. This point is completely moot however, since we've just hired a brand spankin' new OC. Who knows what will happen next year? You have two options... be excited and look forward to next year, or be frustrated since we didn't hire Urban Meyer as our OC and complain until the spring game. As Captain Planet would say: "the power is yours!"

If you have watched Bonds offense the past three seasons at all you should be excited about next season. TC is our best offensive player coming into the season and that sets up a good situation for our offense. TC could easily lead the nation in rushing next year.I think we made the right choice.Cant wait for next season.

I definitely get the impression that we won't be abandoning the run any time soon.

Which is a good thing. Coulda won 2 more games last year if we focused on running the ball more.

I'm not worried about TC. Mr. Bond needs to get our backup RBs to shoulder more of the load.

The TD drive against UNC this year was one of the most impressive displays by a RB I have seen. TC carried what, 13 times on a 15 play 80 yard drive? But after that he was exhausted because he couldn't get a real rest for the rest of the game.

I'm not who you asked, but Ugag for one, and Wake for another imo. We were wearing both down, particularly late, and Nix kept calling pass plays. IIRC TC had one carry in the 4th quarter against Wake? Just stupid.

Gonna have to agree with ncjacket here. There were games we should have been running down the clock, but instead I remember 30+ yard pass attemts by Ball that were 10 yards off the mark.

I don't recall him improving his accuracy to + or - 10 yards.:laugher: Cheap shot, god bless the pygmies in Africa... I need to say something nice to make up for it. Reggie Ball combined Michael Vick's precision with Jake Plummer's pocket presence. There, I compared him to two NFL qb's.
