John Drew?

Hope it works out for him wherever he goes, but I have serious doubts about someone from Columbus feeling comfortable at Duke.

I hope he gets stung five times!! and lives to regret his stupid choice then is ostracized in his home.

This guy is a stud.He could be a pain to US for 4 yrs-he will start as a Fr

not a good statement for the enthusiasm for our DEF

Well that seals it. The Resident Recruiting Expert has spoken. Might as well save John Drew a seat in Canton now.

I'm glad Drew has foregone the big city environment of Atlanta for the pastoral, college town atmosphere of Durham!

On a serious note, I happen to believe that Duke made a great hire in Cutcliffe. He is working very hard on every aspect of Duke football and he is making a difference already from season tickets to recruiting commitments. Quite frankly, I believe he is taking us on in recruiting and believes Duke can have the success we have enjoyed in recent years with winning seasons and bowl games.

He and Paul Johnson should be pretty good rivals - and the best way to keep Duke from passing us in football would be to really kick their tails the first couple of years.

I am a vocal opponent of my hometown, but this statement makes no sense to me.

Durham and most of Georgia are so different that I have a hard time thinking any kid would feel comfortable there. I can see someone from maybe Augusta or Atlanta dealing with it, but not from most of the rest of the state. I'm not slamming Columbus at all, just saying that Durham is a very strange town and on top of that Duke is it's own little bizarre universe.

That sounds closer to Columbus than you think.

Don't be afraid to bash it, but Columbus is not much like the rest of GA. In fact I would say it's very similar to Durham a strong line between Have's and Have Not's with very little in-between.

Must agree with JacketDan wholeheartedly. I spent a year in Columbus with the TSYS development downtown and the city is a true anomaly in the degrees of separation of serious old money (Coca Cola & textiles), serious new money (Aflac, Synovus, Heard, CarMike) a huge military presence out @ Ft. Benning and a very large virtually poverty level "underclass" that seems to remain pretty much static for decade upon decade. The schism, demographics and sociological lay of the land isn't all that different than Durham at all.

the word is MONITOR - if you are insulting someone, it is important to get your words correct, or your insult may not work

That makes a lot of sense from a football standpoint... Leave Tech for Dookie...

Perhaps he appreciates that Dook would never throw a student athlete under the bus in the face of a criminal investiagion or cries for political correctness...

Further, home games at Dook are quite literally in a rural setting.

I prefer "Comment Ombudsman Extraordinaire." I don't know what he will do and neither do you, but you seem to have a knack for declaring players deities or dog $hit based on one or two stats on recruiting web sites without ever having seen them play.

That is just plain laughable.

In conclusion. (and agreement with knoxjacket)...... just from the very very recent past pheenom du jour. "Remember Hobie Holliday!"

What is laughable to me is that you ,who just admits you don't know what will happen, degrades me just for making a statement that you have NO basis to refute.
