Josh Nesbitt

For me "fast" is a nebulous, catch-all term, that is not terribly descriptive beyond saying a kid can cover some distance quickly.

To me it's far more descriptive to break it down into two components: (1) acceleration or "burst", either out of a cut or from a dead standstill, and (2) maximum footspeed once a player has gone through his initial acceleration.

To me, Josh is elite in the first category and good in the second, and Dwyer is elite in the second category and good in the first category.

Maybe that is what all these fans of ACC schools mean by the "answer to the option"?

I had an F$U alum next to me on a plane the other day and we were talking about ACC football.

He said, "It's easy to stop Tech's option gimmick and everyone in the ACC will figure it out. You just get good athletes, blow up the offensive line, make sure your players understand the gimmick, and tackle well."

I said, "and exactly what offensive scheme would those things not blow up? Great defense can stop any offense. Remember what Wake Forest did to you for three years?"

To which he responded "[FSU's] offense can't be stopped by a defensive scheme when we execute."

I said "No, because off-the-field issues take care of your offense for the defense. But hey, 14 wins behind Joe Pa isn't so bad." After that, I achieved the nirvana of modern air travel, a silent person next to you.

To all those idiots, I would say:

Well, then I guess your coaching staff just straight sucks at breaking down film then, since they had so many games of us already to study by the time we played you. And, I guess that goes for UM and Ugag's coaching staffs as well.

Then there's always the comeback of:

Yeah, people sure have figured out that whole forward-pass gimick. And UF and West Virginia have really suffered on offense since that good first year.

Yours was an excellent comeback as well, especially since it shut the guy up.
