JSU's Coach Crowe talks about how they can beat Tech

Touché. The analogy is as ridiculous as your concept of "use it because it's there".

Then what are we arguing about? If you agree with me that what Crowe said isn't a big deal, why are you in favor of using what he said as a means to motivate our team? You (as well as others) are suggesting that the players use that as motivating bulletin board material just "because it's there". That will make it into not only a big deal but a laughing stock of every opposing team we play since it makes it look like our players need motivation from the outside in order to play their best.

As I said from the get go, IF our players need that kind of crap to motivate them to win the first game of the season, they are in for a rough ride through December.

Of course, I'm not saying this is a for sure win. I'm just hoping that CPJ has taught the players how to motivate itself and stay motivated throughout the entire season without the need to be given anything by our opponents.
Whatever dude. The point is, you get your team focused and fired up for the game by the way you coach them and work with them. But if you can get a little edge from something else you add that as more fuel for the fire. As pretty much everyone else on the thread has said, you use what you can to make sure the players are ready to play. If something like this helps, fine. If it doesn't, then don't use it. But it's certainly not a ridiculous concept.

If ANY coach of ANY sport knew how to get a team at that right level for every game, they would have a secret worth millions. The fact is it doesn't happen for any team. That's why coaches do things to gain an edge. But from your comments you must have the secret so you better call PJ real quick. Besides, who gives a crap what opposing teams think about anything?

It's not a secret right? We just need to watch out for what the other team says in public so we can print it out on a giant poster to post in the locker room. Otherwise, our players will play like crap and lose the game.</sarcasm>

I trust CPJ to motivate his player the way he sees fit and the way he knows. I just don't see him finding any motivational value with what Jack Crowe said. He certainly isn't going to wait around for other teams to say stupid things so he can use that as motivation.

Marv Levy used to pull some quotes out from other teams from some off the wall papers that usually don't make it off the street they are on and hang them on the wall. Players say stupid things when they don't think it will be published. Kind of funny to read how other people thought we sucked during that 4 year run.

Pauls doing the right thing, he's a great motivator but it helps when you have a dumbarse or two that lights the fire lol.

Y'all aren't up on your Jack Crowe history I don't guess. He coached Arkansas when they lost to The Citadel 10-3 at home in the first or second game of the year and was immediately fired right then and there. Maybe he thinks he has one coming or something.
