tommie...I believe that to be a top 10 program that we need to recruit better. I would probably be saying that even if OL was here. I just think that there is always room for improvement in this area. This is going to be a big year for recruiting in the state of Georgia so we'll see come Feb!

Jacketguy; what are saying if we had Burns? WE HAD THE BEST RUNNING BACK IN TECH'S HISTORY LAST YEAR!! AT LEAST TILL HE WAS HURT. Burns was just an ordinary back who was VERY SLOW but tough. With our poor ol play last year Joe would not have been very effective, because he was a 4 yard and cloud of dust. Our line play was such that we neede that break away back that we did have.

Techrod, I cant argue with your statements concerning the different running styles of Burns and Hollings, and agree with you, but Burns would have brought something that none of the backs had last year... experience... add in the fact that Burns ranks 4th on career rushing totals at Tech (Lavette, Mays, and Ivery are ahead of him) and that puts him in some heady company...
But my point was this.. Burns accounted for 1165 if the 1668 total yards that we had rushing in 2001..thats almost 70% of the total..
Godsey accounted for 3085 passing yards ... we had a total offensive production of 5015 in 2001..
Godsey and Burns alone had a hand in 85% of the total yardage gained for the season in 2001...
I dont care who the team is.. you lose that and you have lost alot.. and my point was this.. you put that loss back into play in 2002 and I believe you have a 11 win season... we dont lose to Clemson, we dont lose to Wake Forest, we dont lose to FSU.. either of them.. its just a different season.. (and I know, if frogs had wings... ) but take those individuals away, and last year takes on a different perspective for me...
No, I wasnt happy that we lost to WF, and wasnt happy about the way we allowed Georgia to run us out of the state, and wasnt happy that we lost to Fresno State... Gailey did make some mistakes last year, there were some things I wish he had done better, but I still have confidence in him, I think he did a better job in some areas that most are willing to give him credit for.. and I still believe that sometimes people lose site of the entire picture
I still say, give the man a chance to do the job.. we will know in time whether he is the right guy for us.. I am not happy about last season.. I dont like 7 win seasons and losing to Bulldogs.. but I am willing to hope for the best and support who is there until there is enough reason to withdraw that support..
