Not asking for any reason...just wondering..., but who's the top young D-Coordinators around college football right now? Preferably at a lower level than an ACC school....maybe a Conference-USA, Big East, Independant school coordinator? (yes, insert joke about any of these being lower than the ACC).:dead_horse:

Maybe not this year but Kirby Smart is going to be soon. Working under Saban.

Smart is just riding on the Saban train like Jimbo did. If saban wasn't coaching Bama, smart would be just an avg DC.

CPJ should have a Rock Paper Scissor tournament and hire the winner.

Dick Bumpas from TCU always has a strong D.

Also, Justin Wilcox from Boise is supposed to be good

Tenuta? :flame:

I agree but that will make him desirable and get him a payday the same way it did Jimbo.

Plus he can recruit. I wouldn't pick him for us but he will be labeled a hot young D coordinator.

1. Wommack would try to improve his chances by calling "Rockssors", and it wouldn't work and he'd have to go back to playing the normal way.

2. Tenuta would just call Paper over and over, and if the other guy called Scissors, he would just call Paper louder and harder.

3. Willie Martinez would call "Markers", which isn't in the game, and be disqualified.

4. Mickey would call Paper and punch you in the face in the same motion to keep you from making your call.

5. Bud Foster would duck into your fist as you call Rock to draw a roughness penalty.

I bet Willie Martinez will be available after the season.

Willie Martinez is a defensive GENIUS. If I had to rank all time defensive coaches, he would be #1. You can put the most potent offenses against him and he just figures out ways to shut them down completely. And he has no talent to work with either. Defensive Juggernaut.

Tenuta never calls paper, tenuta calls

ROCK!!!!

every time no matter how many times you call paper (and Matt Ryan is paper).

A young Tenuta CLONE would be perfect with a little Dick Butkus thrown in for spice! :flame:

BEEFENSE, please be more careful where you split your lines next time.

You don't want too many roosters in the hen house. So the main rooster needs to have someone that he gets along with as well as can coach. Someone from Mike Smith's staff might be ok. Not BVG but an understudy. Personality is very important. You don't want two types A's on the same sideline. PJ and Tenuta would never work. It'd be Oakland all day long.

I think the best young defensive coordinator in America is Justin Wilcox of Boise State. He will be a head coach soon. I get a close up look at the best defense in CUSA - East Carolina. Greg Hudson, early to mid-forties, is really good. The truth is, the average age of a defensive coordinator is almost surely greater than the average age of head coaches (Bowden and JoPa don't count). There aren't many real young defensive coordinators.

I bet Giff will be soon.

Because he has done what exactly? It took 3 seniors and a 4* sophomore for him to put a solid product out there (one that still should have been better, by the way) and it's pretty obvious right now that he didn't build up any depth behind them.

I've only heard great things about his ability to get recruits, but that does not make him a defensive coordinator.
