Just Sad

I have had little to say since yesterday’s 42-0 disaster. I am not really angry; I don’t really have the right to be. I am just sad. I am sad for a man who wanted to come home and lead Tech football to a great place. I am sad for the players who have now been completely embarrassed in three of their last five games. I am sad for a coaching staff that cannot seem to turn the situation around, some of them former Tech athletes who wanted nothing more than for this to succeed. I am sad for the students, alums and fans who care about Georgia Tech and want to enjoy our football traditions. I never thought the Collins hire was a good one, but I sure wanted him to prove me wrong, still do. I will never wish for anything other than success for a Tech coach or team.

I do not favor firing Collins until the season plays out. We have played two of the best three teams on our schedule. If we could win six games this season it could be argued that Collins should get another year. I do not think this will happen. And, unless we win two of our next three, I think it will be just about impossible.

Our leadership should anticipate a coaching change will be made and be diligently exploring options so that they act decisively after Thanksgiving weekend. Until then, why not just support the team and yes, coaches, and wish for the best? Let’s enjoy what we can. I will make the trip for the Duke game as planned. Later in the season I am bringing the family with the young grandsons to enjoy a Tech football weekend against the U. I am sad that I don’t have more positive expectations for these trips and the rest of the season. But, I will do my best to push the sadness aside and come have a great weekend. Go Jackets and THWG! Keep the faith. Things will get better.

There is really nothing Collins can do, short of a total win out miracle turnaround with a 100-0 shellacking of UGAg to cap it off. Even winning 6, I just don't think we will ever trust him as head of the program again. We will all be just waiting for the hammer to drop on our next blowout loss.

Good perspective. Too bad CGC could not get it done. His style is not conducive to running a program. I look at the HC at places like Alabama & OSU and they are like field generals on the field and CEO’s off the field, and they demand excellence. The players are expected to conform to the coach’s standards and expectations. That is why Ross, O’Leary, & Johnson were successful. Gailey ran a good program, he was just a terrible play caller. I think CGC got it backwards.

The problem isn't the losses, it is the way we are losing and the obvious incompetence of CGC.

Things will definitely get better. Soon as Collins and crew are gone.

I don’t feel sad for Collins. The man isn’t a Tech fan nor was this his dream job. That was the first lie he sold us and I knew it was a ööööing lie because he said his dad’s a uga fan and his uncle’s a Tech fan. At this point the only reason I would be ok with him not being fired right now is so I can enjoy ööööing him $3M out his retirement fund. öööö that cocksucking piece of öööö öööö.

I’m sad for the players.
Collins?
Screw him
He’s a spineless, clueless, classless in over his head POS. He got paid handsomely to perform and he’s been nothing short of awful.
He needs to be shown the door ASAP
The only questions are will it be TS to do it and if it is, will he have the balls to do it?

Good Lord. Collins has lost JJacket. JJacket is my compass for GT football. My compass is broken. GT football is broken. What a sad day. Please fire Collins immediately.

No way could I feel sad for a man who makes that kind of money and puts out those kind of results. The man is even at war with the fans, who at the end of day pay his salary. Forget that. All I got to say don't let the Brinks truck door hit you on the way out, bye.

I just disagree with you, of course things will get better SOMEDAY. We are a once proud program that is in shambles, i say fire him TODAY

Agree winning six isn't enough anymore. I think he needs to get to 8. Doesn't really matter what the number is though because we're not going to get there.

There is no reason to wait until the end of the season if the writing is on the wall. I think we make a decision after October 8th Duke game at the latest.

If they let him back in BDS, holy hell...that's a new level of embarrassment for the program. The fans who attend will only do so out of motivation to vent their frustrations at him.

Let’s do it at the game. Have the team come out of the tunnel without the RW. Then right before kickoff have the PA announce “Fans, please pay attention as we have a special announcement from President Cabrera.” Then RW drives onto the field with Cabrera at the wheel. He stops right in front of the team and gets out with a microphone in his hand. Camera pans to him, he says “Todd Stansbury and Geoffrey Collins, you’re both fired effective immediately. Security please escort these gentlemen out of the premises.” The crowd of 4000 fans erupts, it’s a mad house. We’re throwing helluvienna beers in the air and chanting CABRERA. Cabrera rips his shirt off and starts yelling WOOOOO. Then he gets into RW and drives off and we beat Duke 45-3.
