Just something to Consider

I think that chan can get us there but for a state of georgia program looking for a head coach i would say that Chris Hatcher from valdosta st is the man. look what he has done down there and look at the qb's he has coached in the past at kentucky. My only question about Hatcher would be him finding a great dc. if we could get Hatcher along with keeping Tenuta i think we could find what we are all looking for!

Didn't Kentucky already prove that hiring from Valdosta State with that offensive system doesn't work?

Coaching change is a coaching change NO DIFFERENCE.
GT loses in coaching changes most schools do.

IF, IF, IF, Thats the problem, when you roll the the dice it's always IF.
If Bill Lewis had been a better HC we could have won a NC especially with the recruits he brought in. IF, IF, IF,.

Bill Lewis was just a ridiculous hire and I can only conclude that Homer had a serious senior moment when he made that move. In 6 years as HC at two different schools prior to coming to Tech he had ONE winning season. That one was 11-1 thanks to Jeff Blake and Steve Logan. What a stupid, stupid move.

"cognitive dissonance"
Say whaaaaaaaaaat?????????
I wasn't an English major, please break that one down for a country boy to read. Thank you

Well I've posted and so have some others both the numbers and the "STARS" that went with them.
Bill Lewis had 3 of the best if not the very best recruiting classes in GT history, one of which included both the GA and SC POY. Let me know I'll be glad to post them again.

I have always liked Dr Rice. When he came to GT a friend of mine who is a UNC grad told me GT's atheletic program would prosper, He was right but I have never understood why Dr Rice hired Bill Lewis. Lewis was a good DC at mutt u but other than that really nothing he inherited the ECU team. Unless the Dr saw in Lewis his ability to recruit which is something GT has always needed to do well.
IMO it's the same today but evaluation of the talent below the radar is where GT must be sucessful now.

Homer was enthralled with Bill Lewis because of all of the recruiting contacts he had in the state of Ga....he built them as UGa's DC and continued that path while he was HC....

One of the criticisms of Ross and his crew was that they did not recruit Georgia very well...and as Georgia at the time was rated as #1 or #2 in HS prospects, he felt that it was essential that we do better at home. And to be honest, Lewis did pretty well recruiting wise his first couple of years. Alas....

I do not have a fascination with a "name" coach but think that there are many that feel that we could demand one. Hewitt was a great hire but building a basketball program is far easier than building a football program. My opinion is that if we hired an unknown as our football coach and he experienced similar success to Coach Hewitt, he would not be with us past the first great opportunity that came up. My point is that I am not satisfied with 6 wins a year and never beating UGA but I am willing to wait another 2 or 3 years to see if Coach Gailey can take us to a higher level like Coach Beamer did at VPI. I think some stability is very important in developing a program.

GTL,I think a lot of folk's forget that although GOL was the head coach at GT for 7 years he was,in fact, on the flats about 12 yrs which is one of the reason he had sucess recruiting. The restricitions were not as severe during his tenure but it required time to build those relationships within the state as well as nationally.
It is not always possible to hire from with in but when you can it in most cases works out better for the program.

No, Kentucky proved that hiring a scumball from Valdosta State doesn't work. Mumme's problem wasn't his coaching, it was getting the team placed on probation.
