Just when APR could have helped

In the Texas game, they showed a graphic of the APR's of the 5-7 teams. If we could have won five games, we would have made a bowl because of our high APR. Texas will get left out because their's sucks like the Baylor football team is today.

Bobinski said weeks ago when we still had a bowl hope in a vegetative state that we wouldn't accept a bid at 5-7, if I remember correctly.

He said "probably not" because that is what you say when you still have a chance to win 6 games. You take the bowl bid in that situation. Extra practices to get a head start on spring.

No, I agree on taking the bid. Though I imagine if we had qualified at 5-7 and declined the bid the board would be awash with "CPJ doesn't think we need the extra practice, he's fine with how we played this year!" posts. So maybe it's all for the best that we aren't in the APR running.

The ACC would make sure we went to the bowl. More money for the conference to share.

Even if we had been given the chance, I think the other poster is correct about our APR ( bs rating FWIW).

Also do not see what the advantage of the extra practice is when players are exposed to same coaching that would have led to 5 wins. Did extra Orange Bowl practice help us this year?

And we are in no position financially to be losing a lot of money going to a nonsense bowl game.

If only we had won 2 more games to still be under .500.

It's a rating that fits in well with the rest of the NCAA's academic mission: it rewards schools who make it easiest to pass classes.

I think it is good the team and coaches have time to think about this season. We did a lot of practicing with little to show for it.

it is time to get mentally recharged so we can take it to the next level

So true. Remember when graduating from Tech was difficult? Now, to meet the ratings, getting in is the hardest thing done. I guess African American Studies is the pinnacle of education. Even UNC's quarterback couldn't stay academically eligible with the joke of a curriculum they offer.

It will get better with less practice?

 It's almost breathtaking how retarded you are.

Nebraska, Minnesota, and San Jose State are our first 5-7 teams to play in bowl games. Congrats? If I'm looking at the right info, we would have been behind Nebraska in APR but ahead of MN and SJS, so we would have gone. (for what it's worth, which is absolutely nothing.)

San Jose St. is playing Georgia state in the AutoNation Cure Bowl, Dec. 19th in Orlando. Can you imagine...?

I can imagine the first ten minutes of the tailgate for a game like that. And then, darkness.
