You know you’re out there. You opened your mouth all week long and said that he had no business being the interim coach. You said his offensive line sucked. Get lost. Go find another team. You’re losers for not supporting tech this week. You’re quitters. It was one win while he’s been interim coach but it was a huge win and that’s what counts.
 
I get the sense from this game that Key's aproach is to have the team gut it out and stay in the opponent's face until they quit.

I liken it to Rocky Marciano who was not a skilled boxer and was not a super human athlete. But he was determined to win and kept hitting people until they decided it was worth it to lose just not to be punched again.
 
We can give Key credit for keeping the wheels on this week. The team looked serious and prepared.

I will judge Key on how well the team improves week to week. The #1 group that needs to improve is the offensive line -- the group he has spent the most time coaching.

If we can get the O-line to function and make the offense go, we can win some game this year.

I'll judge Key on that in November.

I didn’t like him for how he trashed the program under Paul Johnson. I also didn’t think he deserved the big contracts and titles we gave him. Pitt played pretty poorly tonight. But the task of overcoming this week was monumental and the team checked all my boxes: played tough, played smart, and fought hard the whole game.

Pitt played poorly but Tech didn’t.

Techs hallmark through this season has been making completely unnecessary mistakes.

To be completely fair, there were a couple of times we nearly had a delay of game, butKey had the presence of mind to call timeouts.

In a different game those timeouts may have cost us. But also, seeing such a vast improvement in basics within a week of changing HCs, I suspect the delay of game issue can be ironed out fairly quickly.
 
I don’t hate key, I like his criticism despite the win. Eliminate the weakness and you become strong. Know thy enemy and know thyself, thyself is almost always the biggest enemy out there.
