Kind of a wacky idea, but Tech makes the cut

God. I hate stuff like this so so so so much. You know what this means, right? Every week throughout the season we're going to get to sit through hours of these hypothetical matches played out by the analysts.

Well, at least they acknowledge that it's made up, rather than their normal "informed" opinions, which they parade as fact.

I agree with you. Whatever happened to "wait and see". All this informed opinion (which is what they are ... opinions), and preseason predictions, it's a freaking joke.

This is what's wrong with college football, and a big contributing factor in the overall postseason problems with College Football. These BS polls cause BS hype for teams and then teams like ND are preseason Top 10 based on the potential on the team. That potential landed them in the Hawaii Bowl and they won 7 games ( i think it was 7)

It's crap. There shouldn't be a preseason poll and further more a real AP or Coaches Poll until maybe the 4th week.

Then you know who's what and how good teams may or may not really be.

How do we even know we're the #14 team? We don't

We won't find out how good we really are until Week 4 because then we will have played too ACC opponents that (based on poplular opinion) are Top 3 on each side respectively.

Screw Preseason Hype, it's all a way for companies and websites to make money. And more times than not they're way off base and cause a lot of let down!!!

I think we get some benefit from being in the middle of the alphabet. I found myself needing to tweak to make roon for a ouple of obvious ones at the end.

Clemson being ahead of us is absurd. It isnt a choking contest. We are 7 of the last 11 vs them and 4 of the last 5. More recent ACC and Nat'l titles as well

Yeah, I don't think very much research or thought was really put into their selections or more specifically, the order in which they selected. It seems like they just kind of went to the names that were on the top of their heads, like "Hey what about Clemson? Their fans think they're the best so they must belong in the top 25" or "South Carolina? Forget their history of ineptitude, they play in the SEC!"

I'd put some stock into this if either of those three guys had written an article for ESPN in the last four years worth reading. For real fun, look at last year predictions:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/preview08/news/story?page=ncfpredictions08

Notice Schlabach's. Now, read Schlabach's Five ACC predictions.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/preview08/columns/story?columnist=schlabach_mark&id=3530556

While all them are right, he contradicts himself.

I like the idea of subtracting the worst performing schools from the big boy league every season, maybe ESPN should do the same thing with their analysts.

Tech would take a 1-11 record if it meant that one victory was against UGA. Meanwhile UGA has real rivals to deal with other than kicking Tech around 7 out of 8 years.
