Kirby gets a new contract

In the CRC there is a water slide I was told yesterday of and shown a picture of by the father of a GT baseball recruit I know.

Well, yeah, it is hooked to a pool which makes sense. It isn't some douche slide in the middle of a building.

But you are right, we do have a water slide. It has curves, too.

ITT posters go full socialist on tax rates, weigh in with strong economic opinions while "not wanting to get into an economics argument", and equate Georgia Tech's football standing with Rice.

88% maximum StingTalk achieved

How do we activate the other 12%? Mustard uniforms? Shite concessions? Militant secccurity? Lenient Asia Minor admission policies?

I respect both sides of this argument. I am a free marketer but college football is not a free market system. I too prefer that we get a minor league system to let those who would otherwise have no interest in a college education go ahead and get paid and save the college game for the true amateurs. But you don't replace one bad system with another which is what a mandated pay system would be. Oh sure college football would lose a lot of interest it has today. Who cares.
When was the last time you were excited about a college baseball game? That is the end result of what you are proposing for football.

Nah, folks got plenty excited about college football in the 50s. And baseball is like watching construction work.

Segregation notwithstanding, in the 1950's, most fans considered the players in college football to be the best available, not the best leftovers after the elite players had turned professional. I agree that there are far too many today playing college football that have no interest in the education, or even carrying out the charade that they are interested. And that is not just the players, but coaching staffs and administrators.

I would reverse that on you... there are far too many today watching college football that have no interest in the education, or even carrying out the charade that they are interested. And that is not just the players, but fans and spectators.

The reality is that most fans who question the academic interest of the players have never talked to players at GT or anywhere else about school, and simply adopt a lazy stereotype about 'dumb jocks.'

IMHO, most college players care about their college educations in roughly the same proportion as all other college students.

How many college players are you expecting to go on record as saying they don’t care about their education? If it does not matter to them most still aren’t going to run around publicly saying it doesn’t matter. For an education to matter to them surely a better education at (pick a great school with super academics) would mean more than being coached by Saban. It’s very likely that 90% or more of our guys would flip and play there if they had the offer.
