KQ on Chuck Oliver Show

Chuck Oliver still has a show? I haven't heard that name in years. I still remember Chuck and Chernoff trying to pin CPJ in a corner on live TV about if a recruit is still going on visits then they aren't committed.

That was mostly Chernoff. And PJ retorted, let me speak slowly so you can understand
or WTTE.

It was just one short segment. And I guess the Kang has checked off his "talk about Georgia Tech in the preseason" box.

I made the mistake of listening….Oliver is such an ignorant idiot. In summary, he’s concerned that the influx of portal players will lead to a bunch of academically ineligible players in December so it doesn’t even matter if we make a bowl.

Lol at “make a bowl”

Can you give me the quick synopsis
Chuck Oliver says GT is academic school hard to recruit and transfer portal. The thought he better make a bowl, is tough becuase the cupboard is bare, however a Bowl is possible, but Chuck wonders if some of the transfers from Akron, Buffalo, Loiusville will be able to maintian bowl eligiblity if they do win 6.

Chuck Oliver ask KQ what does GT do to esnure that they bring in SA that can hack the edication requirements? KQ says that GT has to do their homework with SAs and that most of this years transfers are students either Paul Johnson or Geoff Collins tries to recruit out of high school so they feel that this years transfer class will not have any issues.

Chuck Oliver then ask about QB, he said that he was like wow Jeff Sims is a raw talent during the FSU win a few years back. The problem for Chuck Oliver is that Jeff Simms looks like he is the same player no improvement yet from the first start. KQ says that he thinks the issue was old OC Dave P. He wanted a drop back QB, not a QB who can scramble. so instead of adjusting his scheme to Jeff Simms strengths he forced Sims to drop back a bit more. KQ says Jeff Sims strength is read and rip, a simple read and then rip. He says that is exactly what Chip Longs system is and that Jeff Sims should do will becuase it is 1,2,3 and then if nothing is there he takes off. He says that Chris Weinke is challeneging him to take the next step to be great, and be "the guy" and step up. KQ says we will find out in week 1 if Jeff Sims has taken a step fwd to be great.

Chuck Oliver then ask if Zach Gibson can win the QB job? KQ says he doesn't see it that way. He says Zach is a good kid, He sees his roll as coming off the bench and winning a game but does not see Zach as the starter at GT. He doesn't know if GT has the OL to protect a Zach Gibson, who is more of a drop back passer. The other two QBs seem to fit Chip Longs system better. To KQ it is Jeff Sims or bust in 2022, if Jeff Sims is not starting the Yellow Jackets are in trouble on offense and Geoff Collins is in trouble.

Chuck Oliver then talks OL, loves Jordan Williams, he is concerned that the rest of the OL which is two transfers and two redshirt freshman. KQ Says Jordan william is being moved to LT, he has lost 40 pounds and looks really good! At RT it is going to be between two Redshirt freshman WING Green and Leftwich, and then the two guards are the transfers from Clemson and Bama, and the center is Sophmore W. Franklin. KQ says it is not what you would want from expeirence level, however these are all players who Brent Key recruited so they are "His Players"

Chuck Oliver than ask about Keon White? KQ says he broke his leg last year, but the kid is a freak that will be playing on Sundays, he is the best DE he has see on the Flats since Derrick Morgan. KQ talks about the play last year where he throws an OL into QB Tyler Van Dyke and states he is freaky physical guy who is 100% healthy and should have a big year for the Yellow Jackets. KQ says he is excited to watch him play this year.

That show is basically 'Inside Hollywood' with snarky sports comments and an over abundance of "King here" commercials thrown in. I cant reach for the channel changer quick enough.

Thanks a lot for the synopsis.

The Kang is a knucklehead. I think he was a kindergarten teacher in real life. I may have him mixed up with some other sports talk doofus.
I always laugh at his comments from years ago of: "Tech can't block Auburn" and "Williams and Brown are a steam roller of butcher knives that Tech can't stop"
It was sweet seeing Tenuda's D send Campell to the sideline beat to a pulp.

This right here is the most promising news of the offseason. Other than running for his life, Sims never had the chance to showcase his running abilities - outside of UNC.

It was really an indictment of CDP too. His running ability was so blatantly obvious when he did take off. Why wouldn't you use that weapon?
Early on I speculated that we were going to pass come hell or high water because CGC wanted to distance himself from the TO. But that didn't really make sense come season 3 when we really needed to win more than anything else.

I still believe that Sims has the tools to be an elite college QB. Really hopeful that this offensive shakeup brings that to fruition.
