Ladies and Gentlemen...

My $.02. Hershel was the most dominating RB anyone had ever seen when he came to UGAy (maybe Earl Campbell was close; I can't speak for Jim Brown; what's his name at OK St was very good too).

His freshman year was the best year I've ever seen for a running back. He should have won the Heisman. But teams got more used to him his soph & jr yrs and he wasn't so dominant.

By the time Bo got around a few years later, might have been better but the shock and awe of Walker's first year had prepared everyone for someone like Bo. So we all thought Bo was darn good but we were not in fear...

I hate cesspool U and the nadlicker residents--however--IMO HW was the best college RB I have ever seen--and I have seen everyone mentioned--who knew back then they were trying to tackle 2 of him!

I might add that Herschel would not be nearly so dominant today. The players today have gotten so much bigger and faster. No way Hercshel could run over anyone these days.

Not that they were slouches back then but the lb's and db's back then were alot smaller and slower. I think the lineman are a little bit bigger today on average and are faster.

Yawn. Comparing athletes from 30 years ago to today's can't be done. Today's are way bigger, faster and stronger. But they have better training and diets. This same argument has been made throughout time. Compare Shaq to Wilt. Shaq would eat Wilt. But Wilt dominated the game as it existed at the time like no other. Ask Bill Curry about comparing across generations...

I grew up an Auburn fan and love the Tigers. I've always hated the Dawgs. But, Herschel, though hated, was amazing.

The best six college runners I've seen in my lifetime are Simpson, Griffin, Campbell, Dorsett, Walker, and Jackson. Simpson and Dorsett had the prettiest moves and great speed. Campbell was the toughest with Walker close behind. Herschel was the best inside the 10. Bo was the best blend of speed and strength. Griffin was great all-around. I would have a hard time picking the best.
