I can only surmise that the coaching staff has evaluated this kids passing abilities in practice and deemed we had a better chance with Taquon attempting the comeback through the air. Taquon is not the problem. Look at his numbers and no one could argue that. Our issues are the same issues that have plagued many of PJ's season, horrendous defense and ST play.I think Tobias Oliver lost us this game by being pulled by CPJ after scoring 3 TD’s. The hell was that kid thinking?

You forgot to add an offensive line the regularly “turns people loose” and has done so for years.

TQM looked pretty good throwing the ball I thoughtIf Taquon is our best passing option then we are really in trouble.
We ran a screen last week. It didn't work.Sometimes I think maybe, just maybe, we are running a screen play.
We never are.
You missed the part of the game where we put up 600 yards of offense and passed for almost 200 yards then.Wow I only got to see four plays on offense and two were interceptions.
The main reason Oliver had good couple of series is that the offensive line was dominating USF. We had pretty good OL play yesterday with only a few exceptions. Even in pass protection the OL was allowing plays to develop and TM's passing showed marked improvement partly because of it. TM completed 50% of his passes for 183 yards despite 2 interceptions. I know this board routinely is critical of the OL play; but to be fair we ought to give them credit when they play well.
I agree that OL had a great game for 3.5 quarters. However, there we several critical pass plays down the stretch where TQ had zero time. That said my commentary was more on 10 seasons of OL performance. And every season it seems like the same old idioms from PJ. “On the critical fill in the blank play of the game, we turned someone loose who then blew the play up... I guess we need to coach them up better...” The refrain gets old.
He had no time because they knew we were passing. When the run/option is a threat, he had time to drop back and set his feet because he’s got really quick footwork. That will pay dividends down the road just like it did early in the game yesterday.
Big games are won and lost in crunch time. Sometimes you have to execute a play even if the defense knows what’s coming. Whether it’s 3rd and long, the 2-minute offense, or 4th and goal from the 1-inch line. Good teams execute and we more often then not have under-delivered in these situations
This. Our QBs are made to look worse than they are passing because of the kind of passing plays they have to do (and we’ve often had bad O line play. That wasn’t the case yesterday).TQM looked pretty good throwing the ball I thought
I thought he passed pretty well in the game.If Taquon is our best passing option then we are really in trouble.
We have before, however, I'd bet most teams down a touchdown with 2 minutes or less generally lose the game.We are not going to win a game where we have to drive the field in 2 minutes. Since we don’t have a shotgun formation, this is simply not going to happen. We don’t even have 4 WR to trot out I don’t think.
