The main reason Oliver had good couple of series is that the offensive line was dominating USF. We had pretty good OL play yesterday with only a few exceptions. Even in pass protection the OL was allowing plays to develop and TM's passing showed marked improvement partly because of it. TM completed 50% of his passes for 183 yards despite 2 interceptions. I know this board routinely is critical of the OL play; but to be fair we ought to give them credit when they play well.
We were blowing them away. The offense was as good as it has ever been, and I'm not kidding. We made them pay through the air on a 80+ yard TD. We also completed key passes for first downs. We adapted to the way they played us up the middle and found huge success even with a backup QB/BB/C combination. I was really impressed on O.
But the D looked slow and unathletic. They seemed to tire. I expected more aggressive D play calling and didn't get it. The defense looks like what they are - the same guys running some different crap. We've got to sell out on D to win games like this - if you get burnt, get burnt quick. That way their D plays more snaps and gets worn down. You just have to hit a couple plays on D to win a game like this. A Tenuta-style D would really meld well....i was excited because I thought that was what we were getting.
