Late in the game, VPI tackled

VPI tackled Josh, and he was pulled down and got hit right in the head exactly the same as Cooper's hit. The ACC is just awful with the big programs in Basketball and football.

UGA
VPI

All three games stolen because of ridiculous calls when it mattered.

When was this, I want to look for it on DVR

Sorry but the call is not ridiculous Cooper Taylor clearly led with his helmet. It is terrible tackling technique to lower your head and jam it in to the ball carrier. It is a good way to break your own neck. Players are taught from pee wee league up to tackle with your head.

The rule needs to be enforced to protect the players from head injuries.

He didn't lower his head. His face mask hit the qb first and because of the angle of the face mask, his helmet went down slightly. I saw that at regular speed when it first happened and, after several people on the boards claimed he led with the top of his helmet, I watched it in super-slo. The top of his helmet was not involved. If you want to see an example of someone using the top of their helmet, just go to the previous play and watch the cheap shot when Vance Walker got his concussion.

You're right, he didn't lead with the top of his helmet. Of course, that doesn't matter by rule. It wasn't a cheap shot.

I understand that you're saying it's not the only part of the rule but using the top of the head is listed as a no-no in the rule. That is why I'm saying go back one play and view the block that caused Vance Walker's concussion. That same official should have had a better view of that block and didn't call it.

The new interpretation of the rule is about protecting defenseless players. My guess is a player going OOB in the grasp of another player is considered helpless. A DT during a play probably isn't.

The defenseless part is part b. Part a flat out states that you don't hit someone with the top of your helmet. It's actually for the protection of the idiot who does it, but is still a penalty. You read further on and it says in either case a or b the penalty is ...

NC, it's time to admit that the previous play was not a judgement call.

when i watched it in real time....during the replay it looked to me as though CT's helmet hit TT's shoulderpads. i jumped up at my aunts house in FLA and ran out of the room screaming "that wasn't helmet to helmet". wasn't all that appropriate b/c it was post funeral for another of my aunts but....you know. life does go on.

i've got it on my DVR but haven't watched it yet. probly on thursday is when i'll get a chance but i KNOW it's going to piss me off!!

The play mentioned here.
