I will be very interested to see how we look this spring at both LB and DB. We are losing some important players at both positions and it will be very important to replace them. LB and DB depth may be the biggest question marks we have going into spring.

I think this current recruiting class is heavy with LB's and trying to get some DB's. Safety needs to be filled.

I think LB position is more solid than the DB position. It seems the LB position is extremely important in Tenuta's scheme and he is always looking to be solid there.

I would agree, filling Landry and Reis' positions are a big deal. I also will be interested to see if Scott is able to finally have his star year that we have been waiting on. He has such an incredible amount of talent.

Guyton will be a great LB...KMike may move to the middle. Of course, our LB's have to be able to hit all three spots in our defense. Guyton can BRING IT.

However, Guyton will have to fight off Barnes. This beast is growing like a leaf and will be trying to get early PT...he will participate in spring practice and is already up to 6-4, 235. If he keeps growing he could end up at DE.

FS will be Djay Jones...and he has looked good there. Probalby a better cover guy than Landry. Blackwood will back up. SS will be an interesting spot you will see several people battling at including Gaston.

I like our first group but depth looks as if it will be an issue. We are one knee injury away from a potentially serious situation.

true....a knee for Wheeler, KMike, or Guyton would press Barnes into early action...but he is a super athlete.

Past that, it is time for Chambers to step up...a highly recruited kid (LSU, etc.). Also..do not forget Taalib Tucker...a highly recruited kid (Ohio St., Oklahoma, etc.). Other depth includes Eric Williams and Matt Braman.

It is easy to forget Tucker and Chambers...because as fans we typically skip right from starters to new recruits...and forget about the previous couple of classes.

I would like to see Gaston become a player. When I played at Tech we had a SS from Walton that walked on that was too slow and too small but had so much desire that he became a very good player for us. Hopefully Gaston will be like this player.

So the trivia question of the night is who am I talking about?

Hey Banker, are you a teacher or a banker, and if you are a teacher why are you a Banker?

I am not a teacher but instead do asset securitization fixed income corporate finance work. I coach as a non-paid assistant.

Don\'t know Banker but...

I'm just enjoying this thread! Great stuff guys!! One of the best in weeks!

SS from Walton?..........sounds like.......

Larry Travis' boy, Mike.

Wow a pretty good guess but not right. Robert was a little older than the player I am thinking of (3 years if my memory is right). Playing with Jaracz though kept every moment interesting. By the way, for those looking at some of the other threads; Jaracz was never one lacking with desire.

Re: SS from Walton?..........sounds like.......

Another good guess although Mike came to Tech with a scholarship and the player I am talking about walked on.

I believe this the year we could see Chambers and Tucker both develop into solid players.

I'm looking forward to seeing M. Johnson developing as a DE for us. He was on STs and mop-up duty this year, but I'm interested to see if he can develop into a Claybrooks type of DE.
