Leaky Roof going to Oklahoma

Roof’s defense did ok against spread teams. He had trouble with run first teams that didn’t risk turnovers.

It’s interesting that arguably the best DC in the country the last ten years hires Roof. Obviously he saw something in the years they played against each other that convinced him he could handle that high profile of a job.

I actually think this will work pretty well if Venables is still calling most of the defense. Roof has been around for a long time and is a solid teacher/recruiter/assistant coach.

I thought Roof actually did best against pro-sets. Not spread offenses. We stuffed UGA pretty good under his leadership.

Only thing I can think is he wants him for recruiting, player development, motivation/culture, and Venables will do the x's and o's

+1

I just heard that Venables has hired Roof as DC at Oklahoma. WOW !!!

Everyone else heard about it in the thread posted this morning.

Oh. I didn't see that thread. OOPS. LOL

This has been a lousy week for GT football, but I think OU may have just topped us.

I heard that Roof has been fired already, Venables just checked out the 2017 GT vs. Miami game

Maybe he will learn something from Venables.

Ted's a good recruiter.

I imagine Ted is going to be DC in name only with Venables still making a lot of the calls, like Kirby does with
Lanning at UGA.
