Oklahoma: Ted Roof, a college coaching veteran with a number of defensive play calling stops, has joined the program as defensive coordinator. Also, the addition of Jeff Lebby (OC / QBs) is now official and Brent Venables has also retained retained Cale Gundy (Co-OC / Inside Receivers), Bill Bedenbaugh (Co-OC / OL), DeMarco Murray (RBs), and Joe Jon Finley (TEs).

Best of luck to him, a true Tech man and one helluva a football player

Ted Roof is a good coach. I would not say a great coach, but a good one. Fans get mad at the DC every time the defense gives up a big play or allows scores. They only really notice the DC when he dials up a blitz that kills a drive or gets a turnover. And, they judge by points on the board and wins and losses. But, when a guy like Venables trusts Roof to be his DC, you have to figure those who know the game have a high respect for Ted.

Ted did ok at Auburn. He did better at PSU. Here was pretty bad the first time and up and down the second time. His defense is very dependent on generating turnovers.

He did have a couple of shutouts in the second stent I think. It was the first time in a long time (possibly his first stent) that we had a shutout.

Completely different defensive philosophies and styles. Such an odd hire. Thinking he found a guy that will simply run what brent wants when brent wants it and roofs role is more during week prep….

yeah, or Venables is not HC material. We will see.

Oklahoma fans went from woooo we’re back to öööö what the öööö did we do in 2 days. It was funny.

I wish Coach Ted Roof nothing but the best... With Coach Roof and Coach Johnson we had the 2014 & 2016 season and a great COFH in 2013 that we should have won until Vad lee decided to throw thw ball after ignoring what Coach Johnson called in... (thus his transfer)
